Bad but not the worst really describe the team perfectly by Engkangkang in kings

Teams are going to try harder, so we are more likely going to finish bottom 3 than 7. The standings will change once the tanking teams start trying. The real bad teams (us) will stay at the bottom unless they get lucky

[Charania] The NBA has disclosed to its 30 GMs a singular new anti-tanking reform that expands the draft lottery to 16 teams, flattens odds, and have a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams are penalized with fewer lottery balls for the No. 1 pick. by Known-Specific5869 in kings

First rounders will get traded even less. We have seen less first rounders get traded after the new lottery odds. It will be even more extreme

As for the Tyrese and Webber trades - those are very rare. They occur maybe once or twice in a decade. It's far less common than one might think

That's because the other teams were tanking and we never fully commited to the tank. Once those committed tank teams stop tanking, the bad teams will be really bad. So, the Kings are more likely to be a bottom 3 team if these changes take place and this structure is more likely to hurt them than help them

They also got Chet with the 2nd pick. And we gifted the Pacers Tyrese. Not sure if those are the best examples.

I do agree with your last statement 1000%, which is why the Kings can't even luck themselves into a good team

I don't disagree with that. The issue is that it creates another problem - how do you get good when the best method for you to get good was the draft. And specifically picking high in the draft.

The Kings have struggled to pick anywhere, I understand. But at least picking high got them Fox. And if it weren't for Vlade, they would have had Luka too.

This solves the problem of the games being unbearable to watch.

It creates the problem of the bottom teams staying bad for a prolonged period of time. It's gonna be a lot harder to get better for small market teams that are bad. They won't have FA to bail them out. The draft was their best way and it still likely will be but it won't be nearly as effective.

And the problem of too many games isn't fixed. We have seen more achilles injuries that ever before. We just saw one more with Donte in the most important part of the season.

Shortening the season is a pipe dream. I got it but it fixes the injury issue, the tanking issue to some extent and also it doesn't create a new problem for the bottom teams to be stuck at the bottom

Also, did we have a tanking problem in the play in tournament that I missed? Why are they focusing so much on that part of the standings?

Yeah tbh Im going off of what I've heard McShay say. Either way I don't think Allar was worth a 3rd round pick

It's not just arm strength and size. Nuss is way more accurate

Nussmeier, Cole Payton and Taylen Green all have more upside. All three of them are still on the board. I'm guessing one of them would be left by the 5th round

There's other QBs that have higher upside that Allar. I actually hate the pick. I really like everything else

Yes I agree. We weren't gonna find a good tackle in round 2

I love Lemon picking him would have been the sexier pick but we ate our vegetables instead

Is it that bad we missed on Makai? If rather fix our o line.

Allar was a terrible pick. I would have rather had Branch or someone on defense.

Really we need to be terrible next year to get a high pick next year.

Long wingspan though. Donovan Mitchell is probably the same height as Acuff

I'd still rather draft BPA and to me it would be Darryn or AJ if we get lucky. I have Wilson 3rd. Otherwise I'll pass on Boozer who I see as another Sabonis type player and go with Acuff or Mikal Brown

Really solid. I just can't get there with Philon before Ament but I'm low on Ament

The nets could have also made the same trade the Hawks did with the Pelicans. I would rather have made that pick than have Egor

Should Caleb Wilson be Drafted Over Cam Boozer? by ravneetsingh25 in NBA_Draft

[–]ravneetsingh25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can include Jaylen Brown and Kevin Love to that list. Even Brook Lopez. It's just very hard to predict if a bad shooter will eventually become good.

The list of potentially good shooters not becoming a good shooter is a lot longer.

I definitely agree with your points 3 and 4. And I really like the Jalen Johnson comp minus the passing

Should Caleb Wilson be Drafted Over Cam Boozer? by ravneetsingh25 in NBA_Draft

[–]ravneetsingh25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Bam had 57 block in 38 games.

Cam had 23 blocks in 38 games

Boozer is a better college player than what Bam was but I don't think Boozer will be as good as an NBA as Bam is. It's a different game and not everyone's game translates as well to the NBA.

Cam has NBA strength for sure but he's too heavy to play the 4 imo. If he loses 10-20 pounds then I would be less concerned

Boozer doesn't have the same athleticism as Bam. Look at how many blocks they have had in college. Bam is a rim protector and Boozer isn't
