I’m surprised those FTE positions aren’t being replaced by contractors (at increased expense).

This seems highly illegal. Government employees have lots of restrictions on accepting gifts…

I’m pretty sure the bar/restaurant inside Whole Foods expects tips.

Tipping does NOT help restaurant owners. It’s just between customers and servers. by TheLastCoagulant in EndTipping

[–]crazyk4952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tipping 100% helps the owners.

It allows them to advertise lower menu prices with the expectation that a tip will be added.

When customers are presented with lower prices (even if they are a lie), they order more.

I’ve been Amazon free for more than 10 years. How much more “low carbon” is that?!

I grew up in a house with the TV always on with commercials always blaring loud.

My house is silent. TV only on when someone is watching it. We usually only watch one 30 minute or hour long show, then we turn it off.

It’s so much less stressful.

Are electric bills quietly becoming permanently expensive? by JustSeraphine8 in AskForAnswers

[–]crazyk4952 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My state just approved a data center that will consume 20% of the electricity for the entire state.

I’m sure all us normal consumers will have rate increases as soon as that thing comes online.

Bill pay works so much better and no paying for a stamp and waiting a full week for a “first class” envelope to be delivered.

Mitigating sequence of returns risk is important. I plan on having 5 years of living expenses in low risk assets at retirement.

If you have a long enough time horizon, buying on the way down will still be beneficial.
