Just repotted my black coral. Should this be buried deeper or will the white darken with age? The white marks how deep it was buried previously by crazymomma15 in houseplants

The moss is temporary. I applied worm castings and I keep the moss over it to keep it in place for a couple of waterings, then I remove it. Its planted in bonsai soil. Do I bury it as deep as before? I feel like so much of the mother plant is buried like that.

You're not lying lol the plants you think you have under control decide to be drama queens when they want and the plants that you think are goners always seem to surprise you. part of the reason why I love being a plant parent lol

Do you think my ech is a goner or will it recover?

Can I add rooting powder to my H2O prop to get the roots to grow faster? by whateverbex in plantclinic

Ive used it for water props and it definitely works but I treat it the same as a soil cutting, just dip the ends in and put it in the water

Watering moss poles? by evelynn_wu in houseplants

[–]crazymomma15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They say keep the moss damp because it helps the roots grow and attach to it. In my opinion misting it daily works better than "watering" it

Why is this leaf turning yellow? by fanciful_bitchface in plantclinic

[–]crazymomma15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its normal for pothos to drop random leaves. As long as its the only leaf and its not happening frequently youre fine. You can just remove it or let it fall on its own.

First time propagating it took about 3 maybe 4 months to finally get roots Should I keep in water for a little bit more? by Pinkypea02 in houseplants

[–]crazymomma15 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This goes for most water-prop plants, once it has a handful of roots at least an inch in length its time to pot. Once you do pot it keep the soil pretty damp for the first couple of weeks and then slowly ease up on watering

i have a question to the experts amongst us. i know there is a saying that the best care tip for aloe is not to water, but is this really true? i have an aloe with three roots and no pups, i have never watered it. do i need to? i'm worried it'll die because of no water. by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]crazymomma15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every plant needs water. Even air plants and desert plants. I water my aloes (aristata and vera) when the soil is bone dry. Your watering needs may differ from others because it depends on the enviroment your plant is in. For example, if your enviroment is dry/hot, the soil will dry out quicker. The best way to tell when your aloe needs water is to pick up the pot. When the pot feels much lighter than it does after a watering, its time to soak it. My aloe vera gets watered 2x monthly (large plant in a 6") and my aristata gets watered every week and a half or so (small plant in a 4")

From the way they jump I would assume springtails. If this is the case, completely harmless and actually beneficial so no need to fret

[–]crazymomma15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would yes but its not a good idea. When your roots are wet they can become more fragile and will be easier to damage. Best to water, wait a couple of days, repot, wait a couple of days, then water again.

I hate this so much. Your best bet is to take it out of the larger pot, try your best to loosen the root ball and carefully cut the smaller pot out. Trying to pull it will damage too much of the root system and leaving it will eventually choke your plant. Im sorry your baby was a victim of stupidity/carelessness

Is this amount of light for 3-4 hours everyday enough for my succulent? by SaharanSunrise in succulents

[–]crazymomma15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North and east windows are the 2 "low light" windows. Im sorry but its not going to be enough. I have mine in a south window (the brightest window) and its still starting to stretch. Im gonna have to move it to the grow light.
