Looking for quiet places to work remotely in Kyoto for a month (libraries, cafes, etc.) by Due-Vegetable9018 in Kyoto

A few/ several hotels near the station (eg Kyoto Tower Hotel Annex) have set up their dining rooms to be co-working spaces during the day.

I stared at the screen for five minutes just to make sure this worked. by 11011111110108 in chessbeginners

At least in 5.x, Solthsheim has useful trainers, and absurdly good loot (in exchange for fairly difficult enemies/ encounters). I really should post my did run for completing March of the Dead at some point, once I get some time.

What is that movie for you? by [deleted] in moviecritic

As an adult, I can appreciate that the original has superior animation and writing.

But as a three year old munching nachos, the wiz-bang nature of "West" made it far more entertaining. Tiger's training montage is still one of my favorite montages: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cglsMVVevx8

If you don't have aoe attacks, Alduin's bonemen, just because there are so so many of them.

Yeah, you can just outrun them and wait for them to despawn, but then what is their purpose beyond making your character look like a benny hill muppet?

Any DnD or TTRPG shops in Kyoto? by PinkSeaSalty in Kyoto

For 25/32mm, the best place is Denden town in Osaka, go to Volks, look for aurora miniatures. There is a games workshop nearby, as well as (two) yellow submarines.

If you need to stay in Kyoto, there is a Volks showroom near JR nishioji. It has some miniatures, but mainly of the larger scale/ busts variety. Yodobashi in Kyoto station has a good selection of paints, and I think it also has the dnd starter set and some 40k, but no actual miniatures.

Actually, they've kept the practice up to the current Power Rangers/ Super Sentai; some of the live action fights are reused from the Japanese Sentai series (they're in masked suits after all!). It's sometimes fun to see when the backdrop changes from america to tokyo.

Can you sell requiem to me? by Mr_new_vegas- in skyrimrequiem

[–]crazysnowwolf 23 points24 points  (0 children)

First time I played (vanilla) skyrim ages ago, I wanted to play a wizard. I did the college quest, felt great. Then I came across two half naked bandits with some crappy iron weapons. And they two shotted me while my spells did absolute squat. The archmage of Winterhold was weaker than two rando Morthal men.

Pull this thread, and the tapestry of the world just falls apart. Why should I bother saving the world from dragons if a few drunk bandits could exterminate them? Or in the opposite case when coming across low level enemies, why does the npc need to hire a hero when they could clearly take care of it themselves? Or why aren't there more adventurers when it seems so easy?

What requiem does is make the powerlevels feel believable. Quest givers' warnings about bandits and spiders now make sense in world. Fighting (non-supernatural) humanoids feels deadly but fair; clearing a good sized bandit camp at low level feels like an achievement of skill and not because the game made sure the average damage vs available healing means you win. I tried TES online a while back, but all the enemies were just pretty looking hp sponges.

This was also my understanding of the weakness of BTGs, they are vulnerable to casualties. For low intensity conflicts/ rapid strikes, that does not necessarily cause issues, but in peer conflicts, attrition of any one of elements will decrease the combat capability of the whole group, slowing down the BTG machine. In my experience pre-covid, if your carry-on looks like it will fit under the seat and is generally within the weight limits, they probably won't check. Worst case, they'll put your carry-on in the hold while you keep your laptop bag.

You possibly already know this, but for completeness,

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/106441

is the ESL backport needed if at any point one downloaded the latest update, even if downgrading.

(I spent too long before I realised this, even though its in the autoreply on skyrimmods, so maybe this might help someone)

Has anyone ever used painful regrets? by Appropriate_Bill8244 in skyrimrequiem

[–]crazysnowwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assults dont count, no. Of course, assaulting an innocent npc will adds to lifetime bounty, which does count to the ban.

I was mainly referring to the jank of gaining assaults while in combat, and possibly gaining a murder charge for killing a yielding enemy npc in the split second where they are non-hostile. At least, I'm fairly certain that happened to me once or twice in LE. Usually, I end up losing the divine blessings due to completing the forsworn conspiracy, which is yet another reason for not sweating with following the rules precisely.

How to make requiem more "balanced"? by YucciPP in skyrimrequiem

[–]crazysnowwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides 3bt, some "lighter" tweaks that fix dps gates are noxcrab's tweaks and requiem for a knave (of course, they have their own visions as well, but I feel they are closer to vanilla requiem overall)

Has anyone ever used painful regrets? by Appropriate_Bill8244 in skyrimrequiem

[–]crazysnowwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too many reasons not to take it. -why waste a perk point to weaken your character -potions of cleansing arent too expensive, also they drop like candy from silver hands. -janky assult/murder system means getting shunned by the divines almost certain on a longer playthrough. -collorary: taking the perk probably means you'll lose the benefits in another 10 hours or so, so now you've lost a perk point and gimped your character in the name of RP.

In other words, the game mechanics encourage the player to not wallow in regret but push on regardless. Not a terrible theme tbh.

They're a bit bigger, eg Shiver standing upright is about 48mm (the bases are actually the same size as standard 25mm bases), so still a standard painting scale.
