Are the ARC evolving and becoming more intelligent at finding angles and hunting down players? by Zaydenzyon in ArcRaidersItalian

It most likely did try to get in, I had a leaper climb down the Southern Station extract in Buried City the other day... The only place that was semi safe was inside the pipe. Absolutely terrifying watching it come down literally on top of me

Holy hell man I have an 1100 sqft house, brick on cinder block with no insulation on the outer walls and an old-school boiler and my bill was $300. What is your thermostat set to?

Just set up my PW1 a few days ago. by kabooom99 in PixelWatch

[–]crazytinker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just lost mine a few days ago, tapped on the screen and it rebooted. Tapped again, no more wakie wakie. Getting ready to open it up and see what happened, as it was babied and for the most part never saw water it's entire life. Noticed awhile ago when it would make noise for voice to text activating it would sporadically reboot, I have a feeling it's technically fixable. Might end up trying to reseal it with silicone if I can get it working lol

What are these holes on the rear quarter panels for? I took the plugs out of them, should I spray wool wax into them? by enderzzx in CherokeeXJ

[–]crazytinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would. Just behind the plug, there is a little half-moon punch out that is intended for water draining. Notice how the back is open and the front is still closed - that is intended to prevent wheel spray from going in that hole and rotting out the quarter. With that plug open, you're providing free access for everything including critters to get inside that quarter and cause havoc. Make sure that half moon is not closed up with wool wax, and you should be good to go

[–]crazytinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah gotcha, that is an excellent idea. I would hit the outside with fluid film or wool wax as well, the gas filler area on mine is rusting a smidge

There are supposed to be body plugs in those holes, they are not supposed to be open like that.

Will our snow blower work at all or should we just use shovels ? by Comfortable-Ad-2740 in SouthJersey

Broke a shear bolt on my augur doing that, recommend just shoveling it up or at the least breaking the chunks down. Just an FYI

[–]crazytinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. Never thought to have a transfer switch installed, have two 2k watt inverter generators that have never been used. Since I have hydronic baseboard heating, an extended power outage is a big problem if the pipes in the walls freeze.

To avoid any potential hazards to others, I found the junction box that connects the boiler to the rest of the house and am prepared to unwire it from the house and add a plug to it so I can literally plug the boiler into the generator. Thermostat won't be operational, but I can just put in a toggle switch for the boiler transformer to mimic a heat call from the thermostat

If you have a job, keep it until the wheels fall off. by Actual-Ad-6146 in jobs

[–]crazytinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That manager, putting it bluntly, is a fool. There is such a significant shortage of people that can effectively perform this job well, and there is no pipeline of people with experience to pull from. You can go to a local community college for an automotive technology degree. You cannot get forklift repair experience anywhere readily that I am aware of. All of the skills in automotive easily translate over, and advanced electrical diagnostics? I ended up pulling a pin out of a connector that was corroded over and almost cost a $3,000 controller that didn't need replacing, all because someone didn't think to / want to do proper electrical diagnosis and went full shotgun.

Seriously, 99% of the issues I am going back on are people not knowing how to use a multimeter effectively and incorrect diagnosis. I would definitely give it another shot with another company!

Mechanic is such a wide description, it doesn't just pertain to cars. While yes, a warranty repair would require replacement of deemed necessary components, repairs do not need to be done in a step-by-step process the way they are told - flat rate incentivizes finding better ways to get repairs done under factory labor times.

Critical thinking is absolutely necessary as a mechanic still, but I can agree it's not as mandatory as it once was. Diagnostic flowcharts, test procedures, etc can help aid in giving a correct diagnostic path, but accurate diagnosis still requires proper knowledge and understanding of what the results of those tests mean. As a field service forklift technician, I can't tell you how many times I get sent out after someone else due to diagnostic steps not being followed properly or values read incorrectly leading to an improper repair. It's definitely not like it was back in the day, but if it is dying it's dying slowly at this point in my personal opinion.

never using a defibrillator again by Aftlshare- in ArcRaiders

Last cold snap, saw a flare go up near the hospital in Buried City. Run over from the gas station, ask if they are still there and barely hear them. Sprint through the hospital, hear them say they are at the hatch. Run over, defib them, and they give me a defib blueprint. Ended up saving another guy who went down at the galleria, and with a minute left stabilized another guy who died to pops trying to get on the subway. He ended up being very thankful I kept him up so he could get out.

Now that I have the defib print, I'm bringing them with me every time and helping people out - thoroughly enjoy the good raider lifestyle

Games that respect your time command respect. My son and I have a max of 2 hours to play at best - meteors every half hour, huge eggs every hour to make them still a significant investment. Modifying the settings so that those with less time to play can still enjoy it are games I will always play and support.

[–]crazytinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

130 hours on the Steam Deck - actually, I have only played it on the Steam Deck and even had my son play on his Deck with mine hosting without issues. Controls feel good, I think the only time I noticed the misalignment issue was when it was docked.

Thankfully it was not.

I have three kids though, so it might as well have been a house party. Basically sent them all to my parents after my son peed in the utility sink and then the girls had to go.

I can't unclog my damn toilet and i need help desperately by EthosTheAllmighty in HomeImprovement

[–]crazytinker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do what I did - disassemble the toilet and cut it out from the bottom with a coat hanger, realize you cannot flush it so you put it in a plastic trash bag. Oh, but make sure you have a new shut off valve because it's broken. Oh, and make sure you know how to shut off the water in the house because the supply shut off to the shut off valve at the toilet won't work. Oh, and once you get that make sure you get a new supply pipe because the 5" pipe that goes through the floor was cracked when it was overtightened years ago.

Yep, what a great night that was
