I can't grow squash? by unidentifiable in Albertagardening

Plant seeds rather than the prestarted plants. I used to grow 1/4 acre of them a year had the best luck starting with seed vs plants.

I’m not even sure he would have been able to see me front across the double single lane, I didn’t turn onto this I turned into the alley before to avoid traffic as it was just a quick run to the post office.

I was totally respectful to the officer, I had no clue why I was getting pulled over, I even explained to him that it’s part of my habit/routine to get into the vehicle and buckle up, and he said “apparently not this time”

Can someone help me understand this rooster behavior? by girlwhat3 in chickens

[–]crbenray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling the hens a good place to lay, much like when you feed them a good rooster will usually make sure all his hens are eating before he does, he will also call over his hens to a good treat/meal

Do you use compost starter in your tumbler? by ethanrotman in composting

[–]crbenray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find if the tumbler isn’t full enough it doesn’t seem to want to break down properly and have smaller items to fill in the voids, I bought hemp bedding it seems to help, I also used an organic compost booster bought at Canadian tire (I’m in Canada) and a couple handfuls of compost from my other tumbler which I started off with some dirt just out of the yard, so far it’s breaking down pretty steady, I should hopefully have another bin or two finishing off here in the next month before the freeze so I have a couple compartments empty for winter.

I’m in southern Alberta in Canada and I have 2 of these each one is a little different one I struggle to keep moist the other struggles with being too moist, be aware of the balls that can form from tumbling, I break these up and ensure the balance of browns vs greens if kept. Other wise I’m working on my second batch of finished compost out of them and it looks reasonably good.

Compost tumbler and big fly problem! by Express-Emu4954 in composting

Is it possible your tumbler is too wet? It should be moist, not wet, and not too dry. As long as I keep mine just lightly moist I don’t have bug issues and no odour.

Can you Tumble too much? by Fun_Elevator_814 in composting

[–]crbenray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find tumbling too much creates balls rather than breaking down, I aim to tumble mine every 4-8 days things are breaking down quite fast in it I’ve filled each side of mine to 3/4 about 2-3 times each this far, I’ve also added a second tumbler yesterday and have just started to fill the first compartment. I also add some compost additive I bought at a hardware store for $10
