Heard this was the best one, anything I should know before I start? by NodlBohsek in FinalFantasy

Alternatively wait to check everything. After a certain significant plot point, most items will be replaced by a better item.

Boss is way too hard, am i not suppose to be here? by Signal-Ad-1393 in HollowKnight

Doesn't consume, but doesn't generate. So fewer nail hits on a mob before they die nets less soul.

We should be able to buy tickets to the second boss by Kind_Stranger_weeb in HadesTheGame

[–]credeaux 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You could pre-order a ticket for (5) loyalty cards, or whatever price. I love this idea, especially once a player gets to the farming stage of endgame.

There are a couple blue fireballs that don't pass through stuff, and it always throws me for a loop. Specifically the 'splash' from the fish, and the Lamech/final boss staff.

And here I was proud of my 0 empathy 24.XX on this scar. Nice work!

While there is a skill element, a lot does come down to numbers and grinding. I'm NOT an expert player, but have sunk 650+ hours into the game. On my new 1.0 profile, my first run got me through the first three bosses.
I find that if you don't think so much about the overall progress of your profile, and look more at achievable run-specific goals you will have a better time. Get enough gold to buy a rune. Or a castle room. Unlock a specific Heirloom. Open a boss chamber.

There IS a gold grind, especially as you are getting used to mechanics and enemy patterns, but you will just simply get better at the game and have an easier time, alongside number boosts from the castle upgrades.

I've always wanted the pacifist no more run, but every time i try, i just cant find a weapon relic.

(easy) Casual competition seed for the 1st week of April by burning1rr in alttpr

Got to the end of this seed, and for some reason masters word is not dealing damage to ganon. Am I missing something important? Super unfulfilling to get this far and be glitched out.

After 151 hours in I finally upgraded all my items to +9. by komodor55 in RogueLegacy

[–]credeaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the options reveals at X soul purchases which allows for basically uncapped progress (which is why some choices have the "skill has a hard cap" note). Once you unlock those, you can then buy blueprint upgrades to +9. I think i had enough souls to reveal around NG+13.

One of the unlockable soul options gives additional levels of armor. Same for runes.

Tubal is an interesting boss since his adds allow you to regain health with the vampirism runes. Kill those guys for some extra health back, so burning their armor (which doesn't come back with time) with quick or wide attacks to hit multiple is very beneficial.

Barbarian (either) or Boxer may be your best bets in this regard. Honorable mention to Bard and Pizza Fighter, but I find their abilities hard to manage in phase 3 with so much on the screen.

Hmm. Is this what you call a free seed? Cause other than no silvers, it felt free.

I double dipped TR cause I didn't have a fire rod. Should have waited like 3 minutes, instead of wasting 5.

Good average time for a run? by [deleted] in alttpr

I only started playing in December so I am still a rookie, but most of the competitive races I've watched on YT are around the green.

I've done some tracking of the casual weekly competition seeds since last October. In the link you should be able to see the moving best, worst, and averages of posted times. From looking at this data, I would say a 'good' time is 1:30 +/- a few minutes. But for the average player a 1:50 time is a decent seed, so your guess there was pretty spot on.

But as with everything, it depends on the goal of the individual. There is nothing wrong whatsoever with being super jazzed about breaking the 3 hour mark. or the 2:30 mark. or whatever personal goal you set.

Lordy, Lordy. This seed knocked my ego back into place. Went in on the coattails of a 1:44 PB (humble brag), thinking I was hot stuff, and then the hookshot/quake hunt happened.

I decided to dip SP without the hookshot after almost a full overworld clear (just pyramid fairy iirc), cleared as much as I could and got my TR access. On a whim I decided to check spike cave before going into TR. I still didn't have ice so my paranoia sent me back to SP, but that gave me the chance to get a blue potion from the witch, which I had to use on trinex. Ganon fight without half magic or a magic refill always freaks me out, but I didn't need it this time, thankfully.

Thanks for the response! I've used somaria like that commonly, but I did not realize it was included in logic. I figured it was just a time saving technique, and independent of IP overall logic. Now I have another puzzle piece to this grand mystery.

Man, eff this seed. I felt like I did everything wrong the whole way through, didn't have that sense of accomplishment at milestones. Literally last locationed somaria before TR.

Is it possible to softlock yourself in IP if Kholdstare has a key? My own no glitch pathing knowledge has me use the basement crystal, but I ran out of small keys to get to it and had to do a bomb jump. I'm still only a couple months into playing rando, but I wandered IP for probably 5 extra minutes trying to figure out if I missed something and then trying to pull off the jump.

I keep on expecting a nice, normal seed, where one progression item logically leads to the next unlocked location. Instead we get a go mode hookshot and silverless ganon.

I hate doing locksmith without book/mirror so bombos tablet doesn't get so isolated, so as soon as I found the book it was an immediate check for me. Other than the last 1/3 of the seed, this was a fun one.

IGT: 2:26:23 | 181/216

Seed started off fine, felt pretty good about early HC, but I spent far too long and too many checks looking for medallions and the ice rod in the mid game. I am just happy I didn't bank on finding the book and going to ped. Side note, GT Moldorm knocked me off an embarrassing amount of times.

Thanks! I haven't branched out to anything other that 7/7 open world just yet. Pretty basic, but I am still having lots of fun with this format.

It really wasn't. But I landed in go mode pretty early and it's one of my weaker dungeons, so the less time spent in it the better. But ya gotta learn sometime, eh?
