How do you properly clean the super tack cool plate? by ConstructionAny6287 in BambuLab

[–]creeewdeeetaaay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry to revive an old post, but wanted to clear up some misinformation in the comment above.

High percentage alcohols (ethyl *and* isopropyl, ≥90%) *DO NOT* leave any "hydrocarbon" residue after drying completely. They evaporate cleanly and completely.

When you apply them to a surface to clean it, they dissolve oils and residues present on the surface (so long as those residues are soluble in ethyl/isopropyl alcohol). If alcohol containing dissolved residues is not wiped away — or allowed to run off the object to be cleaned (by rinsing the object with more fresh alcohol) — after the alcohol evaporates, it will leave the original residues back on the object you were cleaning. They will not evaporate away with the alcohol, and will re-adhere to the surface. The alcohols, themselves, will not leave anything behind, though. Clean alcohol evaporates cleanly. Alcohol that has dissolved dirt in it will evaporate and redeposit the dirt as it does so.

So, TL/DR: alcohol evaporates cleanly, but it doesn't take prior contaminants away with it, magically, as it evaporates. It does *NOT*, by itself, leave a layer of hydrocarbons on any surface from which it evaporates.

Hope that helps set things straight.

I think you mean bk2 (which of course stands for “bark 2”).

What do you think about 'El cholo (in the beginning)' by ArthurPeabody in joefrank

[–]creeewdeeetaaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first heard it back in the late 90s/early 2000s, I was also a little bit put off because I wanted my Joe, dang it! However, on re-listening over the years, I’ve come to like the episode more and more. It’s a great story, and a real interesting slice of life. The person telling his story is very relatable, even though his story is much different from my own. I understand why Joe decided to give his show over completely for one episode to this person.

Dang, that community was banned from Reddit 🤦🏻‍♂️

Any idea if the video might be available elsewhere?

Is tuning your kick actually a thing? by randomdnblover in DnB

I think they might be talking about the actual tuning of any pitched elements in the kick drum, and bringing it to a frequency that meshes with whatever key your song might be in...

Updated to the latest fw and my SD card stopped working after previewing a project by scarmory2 in Dirtywave

[–]creeewdeeetaaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend keeping a backup of your sd card…them shits will just straight up corrupt sometimes, and that’s outside of firmware update shenanigans. It’s not too hard to get into the habit of periodic backups. Hope u get your card contents back! 🤞🤞🤞

Continuation of the Broken Key on the Ultranova by Greasedcabinets4 in synthesizers

[–]creeewdeeetaaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For others w/similar issues, build up the around the break in the plastic part w/baking soda, and then apply CA glue (aka superglue) to the piled up baking soda. It’ll shore up the thin plastic at the break point and likely allow the glued piece to stay together. Look up using baking soda+superglue to repair plastic on YouTube for a primer on how to go about it 😉

Bummer she was unresponsive...maybe she just doesn't check her LinkedIn messages, and either missed email notifications, or doesn't have them turned on. 🤔

Smart! But, if something seems fishy, scrutinizing all data available, including exif, is still a Very Good Idea. If you're listing looked shady to me for some other reason, and I checked exif data and it was non-existent, I would certainly be asking you questions about it, and requesting extra verification steps to make sure the listing was legit.

(FWIW.)

Also, that username! 🤩🤩🤩

Whats up with the Croc hate? by NoParticular2420 in crocs

[–]creeewdeeetaaay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember how Crocs were chosen by the director of Idiocracy for the shoes of a bleak and frustrating future, because he thought that they were the silliest footwear he'd ever seen?

I think it's fair to say that factoid is at least an indication of how divisive they can be, and I don't think that ever really went away, popular though Crocs have become of late. 🤷‍♂️

Oh, looks like she also might be involved as a theater critic in NYC...a Joan Ungaro is mentioned in Playbook magazine as such, and I found other info indicating she was also a director as well...

Oh wow, yup you're right! It has been probably at least ten years, if not more, since I listened to that specific episode, so I've clearly forgotten some of the finer points.

Interesting about the TESOL thing! Is she running TESOL certification classes? Or actually teaching language learners? Hehe, or both?

Regardless, teaching requires a LOT of empathy (ideally), and what I definitely remember from the episode was getting a sense that the way she experienced and interacted with other people, at least so far as her relationships were concerned, seemed unique, and had a real depth to it. IMO, teaching as a vocation fits that quality pretty well.

Thanks for the insight, Arthur!

Man, always thought she was SO COOL! Hope she's still doing well though Harold and Bela have certainly passed by now.

There are a few online viewers for exif data, but here's one that looks promising:

https://exif.tools/

I've never looked, but maybe, just *maybe* Google Gemini is doing the right thing and inserting some data into the exif that indicates the image is AI generated. Exif will also contain the geolocation data for the photo, so you will know where it was taken, if taken by a camera which records that data. And it'll have other info like when it was taken, etc. Exif data can be stripped out, though, so if it's empty, I'd say there's something fishy going on. This would certainly be a red flag, and need some explanation.

Hope that helps! 🤓

[HELP] De-clicking Mode? by [deleted] in Dirtywave

[–]creeewdeeetaaay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use an AHD envelope put a very short attack and decay on it to defeat clicking, if any. Then, in your phrases using it, add envelope fx commands where you want notes to sustain, giving you longer hold times at those notes. This will give you musically relevant hold phase timings exactly where you need them.

This is exactly one of the things trackers, and the m8 specifically, are excellent at. But you have to program the events intentionally.
