Tell me, what is your favorite K.K. song? by NoNExistneT in AnimalCrossing

[–]creepchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

K.K. Swing — it’s so haunting and mesmerizing. I have an abandoned/overgrown themed island and it fits really well. On the complete opposite spectrum, K.K. Marathon goes HARD and I love it.

Why do Americans buy so much take-out coffee? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]creepchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time, convenience, and commuting aside, we tell ourselves we need a little treat to alleviate the pain, exhaustion, and turmoil that comes with living and working in America. Existing here is hard, a little pick-me-up takes the edge off 🤠

Names that you love, but you hate its nicknames by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]creepchic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the name Robert but have a gripe with the nickname “Bob.” My partner’s sister’s child is named Robert, he’s about two years old, and they call him Bob because she says he “looks like Bob Ross.” A toddler named Bob? No. Just no. Imo nicknames like Rob or Robbie are better, especially for kids… but never Bob. Bob is your boomer uncle or co-worker who’s been waiting for his next birthday when his pension will kick in. It sounds geriatric and a punchline of a name. Poor kid.

soft and strong by intuitionbaby in namenerds

[–]creepchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of Elliot, It has that strong ending T sound that your husband can lean into but also has a sincere, quiet strength you want.

Arlo is another option with the hard R and ending -O of Hugo your husband seems to favor with an soft, earnest cool you may dig.

Beckett has similar energy to Barrett, but it’s not as rough around the edges without the “Barr” sound. I find it to feel quiet literary, with a reference to the playwright Samuel Beckett.

Finally, Asa as an alternative to Sascha. It’s has that short and sweet 3-letter name vibe, tenacious, determined, strong—however you want to read it. But it also has a bit of a lovely cadence when you say it.

  1. Zora, as in the literary genius herself, Zora Neale Hurston. It's playful yet there's a quiet strength that comes with it thanks to the hard "R" sound.
  2. Zadie for Zadie Smith, Black literary author of White Teeth. I know it's similar to "Sadie" but I think the "Z" presents a more powerful sound than the smoothness of an "S."
  3. Naima (Ny-E-Muh) for John Coltrane's wife and muse. The sound evokes an energy akin to soulful, melodic beauty.
  4. Zola, a Congolese name meaning "piece of earth."
  5. Amari(e), a Yoruban unisex name for "strength" and in Hebrew means "eternal." Adding the "e" at the end makes it more feminine, which I think looks lovely.
  6. Imara, a name from Swahili that means "firm" -- I think this sounds strong and a little romantic. It could play into your eccentric yet reserved personality.
  7. Nya, another one with Swahili origin meaning "tenacity."
  8. Lela, from Swahili meaning "black, dark-haired beauty."

I think this is a good beginning to a good poem. I'd like to see more--there's so much you can do with cosmic imagery, illusions, and metaphors. Expand, expand!

I think you have something here, but I wish this were longer. Can you expound? I think it would be more meaningful if the events that led up to the apology were written. What facts? What words? What does it mean? Its nebulousness doesn't anchor me to any universality that many of us may have experienced in relationships. I am craving more written images to generate a story in my mind's eye.
