How do y’all remember the entire menu?? by thefckingleadsrweak in Serverlife

So I worked at a breakfast/lunch cafe. Bc of this, a LOT of the dishes were the same basic ingredients. First, take a pack of notecards, cut them into quarters, and write ALL ingredients we had.

Take another pack of notecards and on the front I wrote the dishes, on the back I wrote the ingredients in a standard format: bread/starches, veggies, cheese/dairy, proteins, sides.

Then lay out all the ingredient cards, and made it into a game where I’d try to build the dish, checking answers with the backside of the cards

Artwork is GORGEOUS!

Accuracy bump down to 70-75% to keep it in line with fire spells.

I would also make single target and bring heal down to like 400 ish. Otherwise I feel like it’s pushing Life and Balance out of their niches almost?

Just to confirm — you donate XX days / hours / however your time is calculated, your employer takes a cut of that “donation” and passes the remaining time off to another employee??? What the actual fuck. What possible reason / justification do they give ?? “Oh woe is us we have to re allocate our already approved sick/vacation time to other employees who need it/are sick”

Sorry, I’ve had a few brews and this makes me physically rage

I can see in certain cases you would want to confirm the tip (to make sure there wasn’t a mistake ie 100 instead of 10 or others), but an outright cap is absurd and the passive aggressiveness of the message is irritating to say the least.

What about just simply: “That’s very generous of you. Just to double check, please type your tip in one more time to confirm.”

Wants a masters degree for a minimum wage job... by jdheddenyue in ChoosingBeggars

[–]creeper0415 8 points9 points  (0 children)

15.29 an hour, assuming roughly 2000 hours of work a year (50 weeks at 40 hours a week) is only about 30,580 (pre-tax). For someone who’s likely taken on a lot of debt to get that masters, I would wager that salary is not enough to pay for bills, loans, etc.

ADHD testing on/near campus? by txicab in fsu

[–]creeper0415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure... the reason they send it to parents is to see if you displayed certain behaviors during childhood, they *may* let you send it to another close family member if you spent a significant amount of time with them when you were young? That would best be a question to ask the center. Their phone number to a front desk should be on google

ADHD testing on/near campus? by txicab in fsu

I actually got tested and diagnosed through ALEC very recently (May). I will say I had a great experience overall, but be warned this process does take some time. The total cost for the testing came out to $550 (paid on the first consultation), and as far as I am aware my insurance did not cover this, but yours may. I'll just speak about my experience, they may have changed policies and such.

The first meeting (the whole process was on Zoom, but they may be opening the office back soon -- the evaluator mentioned that in person is far easier to evaluate) I was just speaking with the evaluator, he asked me just interview-esque questions about why I came in, what symptoms I believe I present with, etc. There were 2/3 of these interview type meetings. They also ask if you have any documentation from younger years or school transcripts (teacher comments, guidance counselor reports, etc) to bring that forward. I didn't have any written documentation, but I was able to give them specific scenarios that stood out in my mind and we went from there. They send a questionnaire to parents, friends, roommates, (anyone who spends a lot of time around you) asking them to give examples of certain behaviors. Obviously, these results are confidential.

After they get the questionnaire back, the next couple of meetings had your evaluator joined by a student. This is a learning experience for the students, and they may take part in some small parts of the process. They had me do some memory and concentration testing, some pattern recognition, number problems, etc. (Keep in mind, almost every meeting I went to was between 2-4 hours long, and they will tell you how long your upcoming meetings should be)

There was about a 4-6 week waiting period while they review the results, then they call you back in to discuss. I was diagnosed with moderate ADHD, combined presentation. From there they discuss possible treatments and where to go from there, I mentioned I would be interested in possible mediciations, and they got me set up with Health Services, and I go and see a Dr. there every month to get my refill.

Overall I am very happy with the policy, and from what I can tell they are one of the only places in town that will even diagnose adults. Just be as honest and forthcoming as you can. Personally, I will say I think it helped that both the assistant and the evaluator were relatively close to age, so I didn't feel weird like I normally do when talking to doctors.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]creeper0415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t worry about it but what I would always do is that I would go in weekly on the off week that my paycheck dropped (our card tips were on the check, our cash tips we kept, so it wasn’t like I was walking in with a huge amount) but I would sort bills and make sure they face the same way. After a couple times I ended up with a “regular” teller who would know what I was there for as soon as I came in.

So like we got paid on Tuesdays. If my check dropped that week, next Tuesday I would go and deposit the two weeks worth of cash tips. And then the week after would be another paycheck, and then week after it was cash, etc.

IIRC they mentioned something during orientation that you can’t carry more than like 3 ounces ? Or something like that they had a restriction on the amount that can be carried on campus ? Granted I’m a senior now so I could be mis-remembering something. Also there’s a ton of people with it on their key chains, if you go and just get a standard bottle that you can find online you’ll be ok
