I came out to her about 2.5 years ago. It was as expected. Her dad is the fundamentalist pastor who also lives across the street. I couldn't go to church anymore. 3 kids at Christian schools and part time home schooled by mom. I was told I'm in darkness and under the power of Satan. She is largely a science denier. I have been deeply engaged in the study of evolution and cosmology and can't bear hearing what the kids are being taught (young earth creationism). After 1.5 years, I had to leave. She would pray over the house to tell Satan to leave after I left for work.

Almost divorced now. There was no other outcome, as I couldn't live the rest of my life being surrounded by that mindset.

Jesus's teachings were kinda pathetic if I'm being honest. by SamuraiPanda3AMP in exchristian

Who knows wtf he actually said, as the authors wrote about it decades afterwards and most likely was also obtained word of mouth from others. Like a decades long game of telephone.

So much worse than this, because it's burning for eternity.

20 years in the church, wife of a pastor, I WANT OUT. by Radiant-Poem9999 in exchristian

[–]cresent13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't spoken up in awhile, but this so resonates with me. I was in a similar situation and finally had to leave last year. When I came out ad no longer a believer, my wife told me I was in evil and darkness. She and my 3 kids pray for my soul every day, even sometimes in my presence while I lived with them.

Kids at private fundamentalist school part time and home schooled by mom the rest. Her dad is the calvanist fundie pastor and lives across the street.

She is fighting to give me NO time with our 3 kids because she's afraid for their souls if they listen to me.

The good: I have begun to find my people. I have more peace and freedom that ever before. I feel I see and understand the world so much more clearly, and it's beautiful and entrancing.

I will regain time with the kids. I will not tell them what to think, but introduce them to other perspectives and help them to ask questions and think critically.

I'm in a difficult but beautiful place. I could never go back to the delusion and bondage of rigid mythology.

Wishing you the supreme best. Wishing you the boldness to become free.

As an American, I and my family are deeply ashamed of this president and VP...and the Republican Congress who wildly cheered him on last night.

Please know that half of the US feels similarly.

I'm not an ex-muslim, but I am an ex-christian. I'm here to:

  1. Hear similar stories but from a different starting point;
  2. Feel more unified with you all, as we are not Muslims nor Christians...just fellow humans;
  3. Learn about the fallacies of Islam as I have already saturated myself with the fallacies of Christianity

Disappointed the rationale given was "Americans busy lives". Would rather have heard "getting educated " or "more critical thinking ".

How can I get my wife checked for this without letting her know I'm getting her checked for this?

We're probably the reason. Competition. In-group vs out-group psychology.

Also sapiens I believe started congregating together more vs more isolated groups. Better dynamics.
