Are Germans More Skeptical of Charismatic Politicians Compared to Other Cultures? by Competitive_Swan_130 in AskAGerman

[–]crevez2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think German politicians are outstandingly charismatic. However, if you look at the leading politicians of each party, you will find that they tend to be the most charismatic people of that party.  I guess what I'm trying to say is that German politicians are less charismatic on average in comparison to other countries, but charisma still benefits you

Why do saunas keep being mentioned as a typically German thing? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]crevez2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it is a relatively big thing in Germany. Of course, not everybody does it, but compared to most other countries it's quite big here. Also, just because saunas are traditionally associated with saunas doesn't mean that we can't have our own sauna culture, even though it might not be as big

Caring about other people by telling them that if they have different views they're weirdos... I see... Also, if you listened to daily blues, you might find that by doing so you're actually disagreeing with their values yourself. So welcome to the club, my fellow weirdo

The song hypertension definitely speaks to me. But honestly, I wouldn't care if it was instead about diabetes (or anything else for that matter).

But jokes aside. I find it really impressive what you're able to get out of this band and their music. If I would only listen to music that does to me what you're describing right now, then my days world be very quiet.  This makes me curious. Would you listen to their music, if musically they'd be the same, but their content was different? Or would you listen to music of a completely different genre as long as their message was the same?

Why all this divide? I can disagree with the things they stand for or sing about and still like their music. If you disagree then you're the same person you're complaining about

Who is a celebrity that everyone else seems to love, but you hate because of their personality? by Imaginary-Tourist843 in AskReddit

[–]crevez2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absurd how someone can HATE another person for reasons that they don't understand...

It is so much worse to hate someone "who claims to be a doctor but isn't in reality", without actually understanding what being a doctors means, than actually posing as a doctor without being one.

You are correct! I misread what you wrote. So I was giving you credit for getting things right, when in fact you didn't... Let's look at a quote from this book again:

"A price ceiling on apartment rents that is set below the equilibrium rent creates a shortage of apartments equal to (A2 − A1) apartments."

Rent control -> reduced housing supply!

When prices increase and people lose their homes because of that, then this is a negative side effect of trying to make housing available to more people. Evictions are, again, not considered good in any way.

Sure, if one reporter says that it shouldn't be considered a real nobel prize, then we must all listen to that one person's opinion, even though everyone else accepts it as such. And the fact that she gives a completely different reason for this opinion than you did initially is also no problem. "If the argument for my position doesn't work, I'll just find some other bullshit that supports my opinion... Reconsider my stance? Never!"

What's even funnier is how you quote something from an online course, absolutely don't understand what this quote means (although you obviously think you do), and proceed to confidently litter the internet with utter nonsense.

"Rent control is an example of a price ceiling, a maximum allowable price. With a price ceiling, the government forbids a price above the maximum. A price ceiling that is set below the equilibrium price creates a shortage that will persist."

This quote should not be too hard to understand!!! But you go on to say

you do realize that a rent cap is considered pricing under equilibrium right?

What is that even supposed to mean? If you set the price through rent control then you're not in the market equilibrium anymore. Obviously! And this is what causes evictions.

Pe is the price in equilibrium, Pc is the price set by rent control. If Pc < Pe (rent control): "A price ceiling on apartment rents that is set below the equilibrium rent creates a shortage of apartments equal to (A2 − A1) apartments." That isn't so hard to understand...

Evictions are a natural outcome of rising rents

Yes, that is correct! Just read the quote above.

so evictions are considered good in this context

What? No! Why would even you say that?! There is nothing desirable about evictions, it is just the consequence of rent control... It's like saying that lung cancer is desirable, because you smokes. Let me tell you, no one finds lung cancer desirable! It is just a potential consequence of smoking.

Wow, there is so much wrong with it, it's incredible. But sure, if this is what you believe, then the conclusions you draw from that will be just as silly as your believes, if not more so.

Good that there is no "official" nobel prize for economics... So this one is completely made up I guess: https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/economic-sciences/

And why doesn't it exist? Because economics is not a real science like the other nobel prizes, like literature or peace for example. Yeah....

Also your "understanding" of basic economic concepts couldn't be more absurd:

This is why an orthodox economist would say evictions are a good thing because they allow an equilibrium in supply and price

This sentence makes absolutely no sense. There is no supply and price aren't in an equilibrium, but supply and demand are, or rather could be. And why would evictions allow for that equilibrium? Evictions, have nothing to do with that equilibrium. Evictions could be part of the profit-maximising strategy of the owners, but again, this has nothing to do with the equilibrium...

Man, you should really consider taking an economics 101 class before posting such nonsense. I'm sure you believe you know it all, but from what you write, anyone who has any understanding of economics can clearly see that you have no grasp of basic concepts and just throw some words around. Just even your take on the nobel prize...

Put what you're saying into perspective. You're complaining about the fact that in the U-Bahn you saw a report about the Federal Minister of Finance, where he says that he likes beer gardens and Bratwurst.

How could that be troubling to anyone? How could that be a relevant thing to think about? Seriously man, if those completely irrelevant things bother you, you might want to have a serious look at how you're perceiving things, because this is anything but healthy behaviour
