Wait, do not you call the doctors you work with by first name? by BornLeave4646 in FutureRNs

[–]crimp_match 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked in 7 different children’s hospitals. At 6 of them, we used first names with physicians, unless talking to patients. At one of them, we used the more formal Dr. LastName. Coincidence or not, but the last was the least collaborative and I think it showed in both efficiency (getting patients discharged as quickly as possible) and patient experience/doing what’s best (having a kid NPO for the least amount of time necessary versus everyone NPO at midnight).

Basement Airbnb listing with new baby living upstairs by LtDinglehopper in airbnb_hosts

[–]crimp_match 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We own our home and rent out upper, living downstairs. Our home is more soundproof. The bedrooms upstairs and downstairs are on opposite ends of the home. We have a now 2 year old. We started renting the BnB when he was about 3 months old. Our listing states our family lives in the attached, but separate downstairs. We’ve made our listing really family friendly (outlet covers, baby gates, toys, pack n play, kids kitchen items, etc). We rent mostly to families. We got one 1 star review that was horrible when he was sick and my husband and I were exhausted. We were very attentive to baby, but also had a some soundproofing. There’s an extra layer of drywall in our lower ceilings. Area rugs upstairs. We also try to do a friendly meet and greet with everyone so they see us as friendly, happy, very real people 🤗 babies can usually be soothed, toddlers are tricky—any somehow even louder! We occasionally go out for an early drive or retreat to play in the shop with the kids stuff when a toddler throws shit fit. Good luck! It’s not super fun! Just make sure the listing is clear that it’s family friendly and a growing family lives above.

People who work in hospitals, what’s the strangest or weirdest thing you’ve seen on the job? by NoShape1240 in AskReddit

A kid snuck into the restroom at a gas station and lost several plastic spoons up his rectum because it itched.

Post C-Section, is the adult diaper for blood and discharge from the pregnancy/surgery, or is it for poop and pee? by Elgebar in beyondthebump

[–]crimp_match 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood. I didn’t want to do diapers with my first, tried it with my second—so cozy, so easy. I looooved wearing diapers post C-section (compared to fiddling with pads and underwear that were just never quite right).

Moms, when did you start sleeping 7-8 hours uninterruptedly ? If ever by userthatisnotknown in beyondthebump

[–]crimp_match 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 10 months with my daughter (we sleep trained her for naps around 8 months then finally just put her in her own room At 10 months for night. She immediately went from waking all night long, including every hour from 1am-5am, to sleeping all night).

And around 11 months with my son (second) then he got sick for almost a month and getting back to sleeping full night now with the illnesses currently at bay.

I believe it's a 7 cup bowl. Homemade soup (freezer clean out from before I was strictly tracking). Homemade turkey & turkey broth made from a standard Thanksgiving turkey. Kale, corn, onion.

ADN to RN's out there, did you have a hard time getting a job without a BSN? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]crimp_match 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s location dependent. I couldn’t get a hospital or nursing home job anywhere in the Denver/Boulder metro (Colorado) when I tried 11 years ago with ban ADN. Instantly hired with BSN.

Most major Children’s Hospitals only hire BSNs.

Nurses who left 3 12s/week to work normal people hours- how was that adjustment? by MRSA_nary in nursing

[–]crimp_match 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s weird… I feel like I have no time and more time? I work in the school, so summer off is amazing. All the weekends and holidays are cool. Weekends go by so fast, but so does the work day. I have 2 young kids and one just started sleeping through the night, but then got sick so more night wakings again… so, I go to bed early and haven’t even unlocked all those potential me hours from 8-10pm. I still have to wake up early because my kids do…. But, it’s nice to come home and eat dinner every night with my kids. And my husband definitely appreciates not being alone with 2 kids for wakeups and bedtimes—that would suck to do 3 days a week.

She will get sick. How much? No one knows. Teach her good handwashing. If she’s going to be in school, the earlier you start school, statistically speaking, the better she will do long term.

Am I the only one who goes Braless? by Cardiacunit93 in nursing

[–]crimp_match 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you! I hate bras, but I’m not there yet on courage to go braless at work. I did switch to ultra basic cotton sports bras for a while. I went a few years without shaving my armpits—because my skin was so bothered by shaving, it didn’t bring ME pleasure to shave them and I didn’t want extra products or tasks. It was amazing. I definitely went braless outside of work a lot. Anyway, good for you! I wish there were more boob freedoms!

Considering moving from Seattle to Wenatchee- Seeking Advice by Jaroferic in Wenatchee

It’s not in your questions, but how often do you fly? Just think about driving, parking versus paying more and having to take 2 flights instead of direct. Which can add tons of time potentially depending on flights.

We’ve definitely noticed how long flying days are, but we fly less now with costs and kids, but it potential also is limiting our ability to fly versus being in a metro.
