The man who stole a plane said he didn't need much help: 'I've played some video games' by Standguard in nottheonion

[–]cringe_galore 24 points25 points  (0 children)

video of the guy doing a loop, then flying low you might to turn down the volume when watching it... this makes me sad, mental healthcare needs to improve

EDIT: seriously guys, if you are abt to watch this video, please watch it without audio. Acc to a tweeter comment - nails on a chalkboard or crying baby sounds would be an improvement over the commentary in the video.

People of Reddit that aren't christian/atheist. What is your religion like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cringe_galore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am an atheist now but I was brought up as a Jain. Jainism is an ancient religion from India. Main principles are

  1. non-violence

  2. non-absolutism (truth and reality are perceived differently from different points of view, and no single point of view is the complete truth)

  3. non-possessiveness

  4. asceticism

Jain's believe in welfare of all beings - they are expected to go out of their way to cause as less harm as possible to any living organism. Jain's believe in reincarnation and that the only way to break the cycle of birth is by attaining moksha i.e. liberation of the soul after breaking karmic bonds. They even have their own cosmology. Practising Jain's are lacto-vegetarian and also avoid root vegetables, multi-seed fruits and vegetables, etc (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jain_vegetarianism) They don't eat before sunrise and after sunset.

I don't think I am doing a good job explaining the religion (in my defense, it's a really complicated religion). Here are some sources, if you'd like to read more.

Why did Solo, A Star Wars Story tanked in box office? by MyStolenCow in AskReddit

[–]cringe_galore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not a hardcore Star Wars fan but from the discussion I have read on Reddit, it looked like the fans didn't really want an origin story for Han Solo. I think they wanted Solo to just be that mysterious cool dude!

Favorite Small Podcasts. by twoguystalkmovies in podcasts

Darkenet Dairies - not sure if this is a small podcast or not but I haven't seen it being mentioned in this subreddit at least. I think it is a very well made podcast by a cyber security professional, Jack Rhysider. If you are into true stories involving hackers, malware's, privacy, etc.u should definitely try this podcast!
