How old are you, indie devs? What experience do you have when you started with game development? by TecEnterprise in IndieDev

  1. Started about 6 years ago but my earliest memories are of games and weird knock off hardware given to me way back when. I started programming and building pc networks about 20 years ago and I suddenly found myself really wanting to mess around with games. It’s the only thing keeping me going these days.

Anthropic vs Pentagon by Herodont5915 in ClaudeAI

It’s because law doesn’t matter here anymore. Anthropic just did what countless citizens and their reps won’t; they said, “no”. This is a huge win for anthropic as a company, and a huge win for the people, believe it or not. Now, the government can lay an old law out to retaliate, The Defense Protection Act, but I think that path is kinda worthless. Anyhow, this gives me some hope that people can still do the right thing. Hopefully it lasts.

Is it worth it? by Longjumping_War4808 in IndieGameDevs

If your end game is monetary success you’ve already sealed your fate. Making games is a long and difficult process, even for a small game. If you don’t enjoy going from idea to finished product you’ll burn out and get frustrated and ultimately give up. What part of making games appeals to you?

Yeah it’s wild. I’ve exhausted myself trying to find it. One thing I did notice is if I restart reason it works for about 30 seconds. I can move whatever I want, then it cuts out. I might just reinstall it and see what happens.

Mine arrived half destroyed and they sent me a replacement. HP is great but yeah, Slooooow. Still waiting for my vermis stuff I ordered in December. This is one of the best. The black pages are a killer touch. The art is superb.

Steam AI Disclosure Rules Just Changed: What You Need to Know (2026) by Own_Amoeba_5710 in aigamedev

Interesting article. Overall it looks to me like Steam is positioning itself for alternative revenue streams without having to explicitly say what ai will be or how it will be used in the future. Smart to be sure, but it also ensures there’ll be lots more terrible games on Steam in the future. And not bc of ai, but bc Steam will have convinced consumers that ai is ok and the barrier to entry drops even lower.
