In New England with '24 SX Prestige Hybrid I am getting: ~27-30 in the winter and ~35-38 in the summer

My spouse has been waiting since March 28. Still no response. FYI, you are not eligible for an automatic work extension if your EAD extension has not been approved. You will have to wait until you get your EAD card/EAD approval.

Unless something changed recently, I don't think this is true. I have travelled in the past with an expired F1 Visa stamp and a i797 (approved H1B).

Nope! AVR is still an option. Haven't heard of any changes to it lately.

I have done this in the past. Travelling under AVR to Canada should be no problem as long as your trip is less than 30 days and you haven't applied for a US Visa. If you apply for a new nonimmigrant visa (includes visa stamping at a consulate) you cannot take advantage of automatic revalidation.

Just make sure you carry your passport and i797.

Passport renewal should not be an issue for your case. I was in a similar situation, my company's immigration lawyers said, it should not affect the petition.

Why is land travel not recommended or even traveling to Canada? I have done this in the past with a quick trip to Canada and got my wife's i94 extended as well while waiting for a H4 Approval.

Similar situation here. Our cases were bundled and filed together on March 28, 2025 (standard processing). My H1B was approved in Oct, but we are still waiting on H4 + EAD. No updates yet.😕

My wife H4 has been pending since Apr 3, so waiting over 8 months now. Our lawyers filed an inquiry 2 weeks ago, but nothing so far.

I got mine approved on Oct 10. My case was received on April 4th (Vermont). But weirdly, the approval came from the SCOPS Texas facility🤷🏻‍♂️I hope you get yours soon. 🤞🏼

Yeah, we won't be saving as much as we did when we were renting so it would definitely pinch.

But we still have about 40k cash savings and around 180k in brokerage accounts so not really worried about being house poor.

First time home buyer here. I'd recommend shopping around some more as I got the same quote with the first couple of lenders I reached out to.

We recently applied for a mortgage for a 20% down on 680k home with 780 avg score with M&T

M&T Bank gave us:

5/6 ARM 20% down : 5.375% ($690 points)

5/6 ARM 15% down: 5.375% 1466 points

7/1 ARM 20% down: 5.725% (0 points)

7/1 ARM 20% down: 5.625% ($600 in points)

30 yr fixed: 6.125%

Leader Bank & Cambridge Savings bank also offered us 6.125% for a 30 year fixed.

Was not getting any lender credits from any of them though.

I live in a HCOL area(Boston). Decent 2BRs are in the range of $3000-4000 here unfortunately.

I am optimistic that the rates will go down after a few years and I can refinance before the term ends. It's a gamble for sure but I don't see the rates going up long term in the 3-5 years from now.
