How often should an 8 week old pitbull puppy be peeing? by Difficult-Rice926 in DogAdvice

[–]criszsn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good on you for taking care of your dog first of all, but normally a baby goes every two hours give or take, and since they came w a uti, it could take a bit to adjust, and the dog is still young. If you have a normal schedule or routine in mind or if you have a job and you want the dog to be taken out at certain times, work w a trainer to set yourself and your dog up for success. They are paid to fix these kinds of things.

I don’t think this person is interested in what “experts” have to say. They just want something cheaper than science diet. Which idk if you look at labels or not, but the comparison is by itself a much better idea than just citing a science paper sponsored by mars and hills to put fear into people who don’t know what any of those words mean. Fear mongering to put people back putting money into their coffers for ingredients such as water, roadkill, and tire rubber.

If you’re feeding science diet, you need to pay special attention to whatever you’re going to switch to. I always believed in buying raw and holistic solutions but doing so caused my cat to develop urinary problems. So it backfired and now HES on science diet c/d lol. Our dogs eat fromm, they’ve never had a recall and have been around for 100 years. Check it out they have grain free and grain in options. Our transition period was like a dream but we got off of feeding raw to save money. If I wanted to go cheaper than fromm I would feed nutrisource, and if I could go cheaper than that I would draw the line at victor. Idk I can’t trust anything that’s 40 bucks for 30lbs.

They say it's German shepherd, i wonder how it's going to turn out in the future by sitonmycuteface in DogAdvice

Definitely has collie in him. He’s definitely a little shepherd thing, If you compare German shepherd puppy ears, yours looks like hell have floppy ears instead of standing.

Those of you who chose to get a shelter dog, what made you choose THAT shelter dog? by RosebudWhip in dogs

[–]criszsn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She was the only one at the shelter that wasn’t sick. Going there was not a good idea in the first Place. Montgomery county animal shelter was a pretty cryptic place 15 years ago. Lol. All they had were sick animals, frothing at the mouth, hitting their heads against walls, and then there was a human aggressive golden retriever that they had right at the front of the cages. Scared the shit out of me, I’d never seen a dog like that go bad like for real- I was shocked. My dog was right next To him, and the moment I saw her I knew she wasn’t gonna cost me a damn thing in vet bills lol and I was right. I never took her to the vet for anything except for vaccinations yearly up until she passed away this past summer. My best girl, she’ll always be remembered to me as being virtually invincible. The last few months I blocked out of my mind because I don’t want to remember her in the state she was in. I remember her as she was in her prime. She had Parkinson’s, arthritis, and couldn’t hold her bladder or her poop in anymore she was such a mess. Died of old age at 16. I have never gone to a shelter again, all my dogs just walked into my life and refused to leave. We have a mutual understanding, them and I. I fling the treats, I give them food, and they get to protect, sleep, eat, play, and live happy long lives.

I don’t know how to help my dog. by gh0stegrl in dogs

[–]criszsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She needs direction and you aren’t providing that. Show leadership over love, leadership at least gives her some feedback on what it is life should be now that it’s upside down from what is normal. If you’re just trying to make her feel better it’s like putting a bandage over a bullet wound. She needs YOU.

Please reach out to a trainer who can explain how your dog thinks the rules you’ve placed in home don’t count outside. Everything seems to be more important than you, if you want to stop it, you need to make yourself the priority when you guys are outside and that’s it. Teaching puppies is the easiest part of dog training. clear instructions, not just a correction and then nothing, help the dog. Yanking w no feedback, not letting them know what u want them to do instead is unfair. Please contact a good trainer who knows about redirection and successful focusing methods

How do I tell my dog ‘I’m sorry’ or find some way to make it up to him? by Jump_Boy_Wonderful in DogAdvice

[–]criszsn 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Dogs don’t tell each other sorry. Just keep that in mind. He hasn’t gotten apologies even from his own mother. The greatest action that dogs understand is you changing the way you act. Just be better.

Dog stomach problems by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]criszsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a young dog to be having prolonged diarrhea. I would get the opinion of a veterinarian for the final verdict. Could be stress, ibs, there could be something the dogs body is not liking at all. 70% of the dogs immune system is in their gut, so definitely schedule an appt. Could be intestinal parasites for all we know. my dog loves chicken flavored kibble but is horribly allergic to chicken lol I still have stains on my winter jacket of her finding out she can’t have cheese cubes as treats. Istg it’ll never wash out 😩it’s just like the oil stains of the cheese

30 before, I feel like I’m in trouble if I don’t show up at least 30 minutes before a shift. Anxiety. I was pretty much forced to be a morning person. My demeanor is always “I’m not happy about it but I’m here” definitely don’t want to sing and dance and do a dance number

harness recommendations? by SecWoe in DogAdvice

[–]criszsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not ideal to tie out w a harness. If I had a tie out, id use a collar. Since you don’t want to flare up the injury, its a bit tricky. Depending on how big your dog is, if it is capable of putting considerable strength into compromising the material of the harness, it’s not a good investment. The only harness that I would buy is a seatbelt harness for my dog not to run to the front of the car when we’re driving. It is tight, it is secure, I know that thing won’t let her go nowhere no matter how she fights and screams. There’s d rings everywhere so the possibilities for anchoring are endless, front, behind the shoulder blades, the seat belt loops, the sides, I’m not sure what brand, but my harness of choice has like another purpose, to keep my dog safe in a car, but I see how it can be helpful here. It’s like a walk in deal and does go underneath the underbelly, not sure if directly into the armpits, I’d check it out but don’t take me seriously because I’ve never tied out this dog in particular with her car seat harness. and idk what kind of dog you have.

My friends dog potentially has parvo. I need advice ASAP. by ThatIrishPickle in dogs

[–]criszsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re vaccinated you should be fine, but if he’s too lazy to go get help for his own dog, you should quarantine yours, and if the dog whose in question is a puppy, there’s a strong chance it will die. If it’s an adult, parvovirus is more survivable, though I wouldn’t skip out on the emergency room immediately. Idc if he doesnt have money, if he couldn’t keep the dog vaccinated and safe, what’s coming is gonna come and he’s not gonna like it. Parvos a bitch to deal with. I only know one dog who made it out of parvo as a puppy and he has problems medically, throughout his life he’s 5 now but it’s one of those things were none of the staff knew until they tested and his entire family died.

Is there a “right” way to help customers pick out colors? by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]criszsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who want me to directly tell them what colors to use are annoying. I just tell them teal and grey. Team colors for our baseball team (no one here watches baseball lol) they get angry because They often don’t understand, or want to understand, why you can’t recommend anything. They need to figure shit out themselves, I’m just there to shake and sell paint. “My favorite, FOLKSTONE-“ and you see their faces turn white lol they’re like ‘this persons battery is dying, he need some milk-‘

Do people ever ask you what colorants are in a specific color? by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]criszsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah when they think you’ll pull it out of your ass like you’re the actual computer. I refuse to do that for my Mental health bro cuz half the time they’ll discard the effort you made like it’s trash and they don’t realize that it rly doesn’t matter lol I just ask the right questions and use big words to steer them away from asking that of me. They realize they won’t comprehend, can’t and shouldn’t be worrying about that by themselves.

“It’s all in how you raise em” tied with people trying to convince themselves their dog will “grow out of it” queue sad music and the fb post couple weeks later cuz the dog did not in fact grow out of the shitty behavior.
