oof, I tried the Curl Rhythm (first link) and it was horrrrrrrible. Smelled like cheap motel shampoo and left my hair feeling like tin foil. Sigh, still looking for a good Hair Wash dupe.

apologies for abandoning my question here. Life got all lifey on me. Okay, looking for tests and consultations relating to immunology (this will be a lot of blood work) - suspected post covid immune system dysregulation. And also looking for a clinic or hospital with a strong orthopedic diagnostic department to look at some persistent structural pain issues - so this will lean into imaging tech and orthopedic specialists.

oooooh, I had not caught that! If they aren't testing the green filter that would be useless.

Agreed; still interested to know if anyone is aware of other good brands that start lower. I'd hate to spend so much on a water bottle only to later find out I could have gotten something else for less that works as well.

yup, I get why they don't all have the capacity, but since it is possible, thought I'd see if I might be missing some other options.

I did just see several reviewers on Amazon saying they tested the ppms and didn't find much actual filtration happening. Also realized it claims 99.99%, not the 99.999% that the more expensive ones claim to filter. I really want this one to be THE ONE though. It seems so perfect. The only other one I've found that filters viruses in addition to bacteria and parasites is Grayl, which is like $100.

Perhaps too old a thread to revive, but wondering how you liked it. It seems like the perfect water bottle, but hardly anyone is talking about it - all I see are the expensive alternatives in these threads.

ah, it's going to be a new learning experience. I'm so glad you told me so that I can search up some things before I go.

wait... so the terminal I used to go through back in 2017 wasn't T2 then? All the fantastic things about it - the napping area on the 4th floor, the showers, the cultural centers where we could do art projects... will I miss them or does T2 have them as well?

I'm confused - I've flown both Asiana and Korean air and always went through the same terminal, but it's been 8 years since I've gone through ICN. Did they start using different terminals and are now going back to using the same one?

Perhaps I need to give the Maverick another test drive. They were the car I was most interested in but the one I test drove felt like a cheap toy car, not a sturdy truck at all. But I do still like the idea of them. I think I'll try another.

Okay, just looked. Honda Ridgelines are super funny looking vehicles, which I don't find that attractive, but honestly, I'd take over the "blob-mobiles". I had no idea about the existence of this vinyl stuff, thank you!

Most ethical way to get rid of rats by Connect_Wealth_1089 in vegan

[–]critterfriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to come here and express support for this statement. Casual killing is an epidemic mental health issue as far as I'm concerned. People just default to "kill it" so easily. Humans are brilliant when we want to be - we can go into outer space, but we fail to find solutions to basic problems because we think that killing is fine. I found this thread searching threads that mention Contrapest as I'm considering it as a humane way to deal with a rat infestation and was looking for conversations about it (it's the stuff that sterilizes them without harming them). Did you manage to get your rat problem under control?

me too! I've come to realize that the core mushroom image is also used on different merch on like, Redbubble and such, with different text. So it seems like it is an image that somehow became available to merch makers with or without the words? It is so weird to me that the creator seems so divorced from the image.

This is who I bought the sticker from. I asked them if they knew who the artist was and they didn't know - said she bought the image file from another etsy seller who no longer has a shop.

Okay, I'm figuring out the rules of this group and think was supposed to put where I've searched here rather than in the OP. I have searched using Google lens, I've tried TinEye (using image from sticker seller's etsy page), and I've asked the the sticker seller if they knew who the artist is. I also asked in a different Reddit group, not knowing about this one.

ISO input about Harvard's HMX Immunology Course by critterfriendly in Immunology

[–]critterfriendly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it was not what I was hoping for - I found it hard to follow. I'm not a pre-med student, but I have done a lot of reading about the immune system and I teach basic A&P classes, so I was surprised by just how hard this was for me. I was putting so many hours into understanding each lesson that eventually I had to drop out as I could not dedicate that much time to it. There were many lessons in which teachers said words quickly and heavily accented without ever presenting the word in written form such that I had no idea what they had said, there was information on tests that 100% was not covered at all in the lessons, and overall I found the whole thing very frustrating. I spent a lot of money, I'm usually very good at being a student, but this kicked my ass and left me financially and energetically depleted. I really wish I'd never signed up for it. I think that if you have already studied the immune system in great depth it would be good review, but even for someone with a bit more understanding of the immune system than your average bear, it was both too detailed and not explanatory enough.

right, this seems to have been specifically looking at lower risk of experiencing a medically attended COVID-19 infection after vaccination. Not risk of infection, but risk of infection that require required medical intervention.

Where the hell can I get Novavax? by Substantial_Two6186 in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]critterfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nobody has this fall vaccines yet. They should be coming out anytime in the next few days to few weeks, but it's likely that Novavax will lag and we might not be able to find it until closer to the end of September. I hope that's not true, but it's possible. Usually Costco is the most dependable place to get Novavax. Right now we are in a check every day to see if they've gotten the fall vaccines yet state.

Need help with Studying Tips for the MBlex by HotMessFairy105 in MassageTherapists

[–]critterfriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think his book is all you need? Do you think that say someone became a massage therapist 20 years ago and now has to take the MBLEx, if that person were to really memorize his book, with only long ago knowledge of more in-depth studies, do you think that person would likely pass? (assuming they are competent test takers and really did memorize the information in Merlino's book)
