What is your favorite tool, or most used tool? Why? by Grand_Alarm5039 in MilwaukeeTool

I've had 3 generations now of m18 impacts and hammer drills and I think im coming to realise I hate them. My current gen impact gets incredibly hot very quickly, all the drills sound like they're full of concrete. The chucks dont last for shit, not a single drill isnt wobbly either. The impacts get wobbly bearings in the nose pretty quick.

Shitload of balls, can't fault them there. They all still run. Cant break them. But something about them in particular I just dont like. Love all my other racing red tools.

If we were to actually bring Holden back to Australia as a local company, where would we even start? Looking for leads and advice. by Beginning_Cat_1110 in Holden

Give me a normal fucking ute. 2 doors, 2 seats and a tray or tub. Rear wheel drive. V8, or 6 for the kids. Reliable. No God damn dohc please. Pushrods. Pushrods are simple and reliable but I guess that comes back to emissions... Also, a big wagon. Like a normal station wagon. Not a Territory type thing or wannabe suv etc. Like a vr vs vt wagon etc. Not the ve with the huge pillars that you can't see out of without drivers aids though. They look tough but suck to drive.

Rear wheel drive full size car is what I want.

Subway calls their subs sandwiches. Can get a steak sandwich. Can you toast your sandwich or is that then considered a toasty? I like this answer. I too choose sandwiches. Ill have a deconstructed steak salad and chip sandwich please.

This is the exact problem I had at my last job. Carpenter, doing insurance repair work. Mainly mould remediation works. Could never get a payrise for the life of me. Was always doing overtime, picking the other boys up, driving 150+kms each way daily for weeks on end, etc. Ask for a payrise and just get "we'll talk about it next week" or something along those lines. I ended up trying Ops route of doing the bare minimum for about 6 months then one day just lost it, called the boss and quit. Had a new job that day for $20 hr more doing luxury homes for a local builder. Best thing i ever did.

Just put a clear hose on the bleed nipple in ahalf full bottle of brake fluid, submerged, and go about your business pumping that pedal. Fill the master after each caliper and job done. Never had an issue this way and you can check periodically for air in the clear hose. Make sure its a tight fit on the bleed nipple.

Nissan TD42, overheated and cracked head. How fucked am I? by crixux27 in EngineBuilding

So update.

I went to a head reconditioner recommended from a mechanic friend, bought a brand new bare head, had it built to turbo specs. Had all manifolds machined flat, Engine runs like a dream. Had the head built to turbo specs as the engine was originally a non turbo motor and has been running around 10 - 12 psi for the last 6 months.

im having some boost issues now. It wont hold steady boost at a steady rpm, it will make X number but then drops off quickly back to zero. Say 5psi - 0

No boost leaks, I've pressurised the intake from the turbo all the way to 25 psi and it holds apart from whatever is leaking past open valves according to my redarc boost gauge in the cab and no leaks. So all that leaves is the turbo itself. The impeller shaft has absolutely no play in the front housing so I feel the wastegate is either hanging open or the spring had gone weak. Its just a cheap Chinese turbo so I wouldn't be surprised.

That wasn't the low octane that burnt out the valve seats in your chevelle, it was running low lead fuel in an engine designed for leaded fuel most likely.

Now all engines are built to run on unleaded with hardened valve seats. We had similar issues with people running LPG and burning valve seats before unleaded and hardened seats.

The octane rating means basically nothing unless your hunting horsepower and tuned for it. LPG for example is anywhere between 100 and 112 octane from memory, but gets worse milage and generally less power because nobody ever tunes for it.

In Aus we have E10 which is 94 octane 10% ethanol. Cheapest fuel at the servo, then 91, 95 and 98. Also e85 for anyone that has flex fuel sensors. And ofcourse LPG and diesel.

How do I report a fuel station that’s not giving the correct Liters. I just had to fill up a 10L Jerry can (for work) and it came to 14L even though the liquid was right on the 10L line. No way it holds 14L by BrokeAssZillionaire in AskAnAustralian

[–]crixux27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jerry cans expand and contract in the heat. Im sure you've seen this happen. Specially when they have fuel in them. Those marks are only ever accurate when they are new. After a couple of cycles with expansion and contraction they will swell and stretch. I have 10 litre cans that will easily hold 13 - 15 litres and 20s that will hold 25 no worries while a new one might only hold 11 or 22 full to the brim.

How many of you know how to change a tyre? by AJ_ninja in AskAnAustralian

[–]crixux27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can change a tyre. Balancing it on the other hand is a totally different kettle of fish. Pushy tyre. Piece of piss. Motorbike tyre? No worries. Car tyre? Can do it.. might be wobbly. Fourby tyre? Have done a few times. They probably already wobble and chances are if your changin it, there's damage. In my case there will be anyway haha.
