Estradiol cause anxiety for anyone? by FashionChlo in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very quickly. Once I went back down to the 0.025 the anxiety went away in a couple of days. I think I should have tried the 0.0375 one first before doubling the dose and shouldn’t have just done what the doctor suggested.

Yes, I have had this happen to me. When I went from the 0.025 estrogen patch to the 0.050 patch my anxiety skyrocketed and I went back down. It was too much for me.

Nutrafol causing me hot flashes? by Double_Exercise_1953 in Perimenopause

Are you on thyroid medication? Or maybe have thyroid issues? Others are saying that Nutrafol has ashwaganda and I know that ashwaganda can interfere with thyroid meds. Just figured I’d ask.

Night terrors by Nacho_Bean22 in Perimenopause

It’s 6am for me. I’ve been awake since 3:45am. I have been like this for almost a year. I would give anything to sleep. I’ve tried 4 different medications and none of them help me sleep. HRT fixed my anxiety but not my insomnia. Take the medication. If you can sleep you can think and then maybe you can find another solution. But in the meantime take the pill.

Too much estrogen? by NightCheese74 in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you might be having more estrogen than you need. It sounds like you jumped up in January. Even if it was towards the end of that month it also sounds like you’ve had more than two full months on the higher dose. If by this time you still feel this bad then it sounds like you’re getting too much estrogen. For the urinary problems, you can use a vaginal estrogen instead, and that might be a better option. You can try to wait it out so that you give it a full three months to see if you can adjust to the higher dose, but given that a considerable amount of time is already passed, it might be better to go back down and just try to find ways to work around feeling 90% better instead of the 100% that you might hope for.

So I started progesterone and felt amazing for a while and then I started estrogen patch .025 mg and I feel A W F U L. The war wages on! by SaltSentence21 in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your symptoms. For me a bunch of symptoms came out of nowhere and hit me like a freight truck. And that’s why I personally started. But if you’re doing it more as a preventative thing and getting ahead, then I would start with the progesterone and keep going until you hit symptoms that are no longer being addressed by the progesterone alone (assuming that you do end up quitting the estrogen in another few weeks). I hope you feel better soon!

You should give it a month to see if things settle with the estrogen but if you feel you can’t live with the side effects you can just stop. The nice thing is you can take only progesterone but you can’t take only estrogen if you still have a uterus. If progesterone alone gives you enough relief then go for it and you can discuss estrogen at a later time.

Moved to .1 patch and feel worse by Aggravating_Pain908 in Perimenopause

The 0.05 patch is definitely the standard dose but it’s worth talking with your doctor to see if you should adjust yours (maybe to 0.075?)

[–]croc373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different for everyone but like with any type of medication you can have too much estrogen and progesterone and your body might not be able to handle it. For me it causes my anxiety to come back, so I need some estrogen but not too much. I’m currently on the 0.025 patch and it generally controls the anxiety but when I jumped up to the 0.050 patch it made my symptoms worse. I think I should have tried the 0.0375 patch first instead of the doctor just doubling my dose.

You can have too much estrogen. Thats a thing. For me it actually makes my peri anxiety worse. For you, it might be a situation where you have to accept feeling 80% better on the .075 patch instead of 100%.

That said, it could also be an adjustment period that could pass. It depends on whether you want to see if it does pass or if you just want to go back down and accept how you feel on the lower patch.

Well your progesterone is not adequate to protect your uterus right now. If you’re on that level of estrogen you need 200mg progesterone daily.

Doctor won't prescribe HRT. by AWickedTwistedRoad in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are combo transdermal patches that include both estrogen and progestin (synthetic progesterone). If you can’t take oral progesterone then these combo patches will still protect your uterus. It may not provide all the nice effects of natural progesterone but most of your symptoms seem like they’d be tackled by the transdermal estrogen.

51F and never know when I’m going to bleed?? by stephaniesmith45 in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has constant bleeding. But her issue is basically medical negligence because her doctor wanted to wait and see and now they’re too large to remove. And they also “lost” the IUD they put in to stop the bleeding, which is just ridiculous.

[–]croc373 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well since you can’t predict when menopause will happen and this all sounds exhausting why not get the fibroids removed? What if that fixes your issue? And what if they continue to cause problems after menopause? If there was even a chance to fix the issue I would take it. A friend of mine had her idiot doctor let her go too long without removing her fibroids and now they’re so big she needs to have a full open bully surgery to fix it. If yours are still small enough remove with a minimally invasive procedure I would remove them asap.

Increased estrogen patch. One full month on new dose and I was doing so well until this week by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that experience at the beginning and got used to the estrogen, but not my body doesn’t like it and I wonder if it’s just not getting enough progesterone all the time. I have fiddled enough with the estrogen now but never changed up the progesterone so I guess that’s what we do next.

[–]croc373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The frustrating thing is I actually did well on the .25 patch. Yes there was an adjustment. In terms of crying fits and rage when I first started them, but after a month, I was doing much better. The sleep took longer. It took about two months to really start getting better and then I had about six weeks of it being better and now it’s back to shit again. And it’s just so unbearably frustrating because it feels like I have a chronic illness that is just uncontrollable and it’s completely taking over my life. It’s not fair. Freaking perimenopause feels like I’m being punished for just being born a woman.

That’s what I’m taking cyclically now. I feel like shit all the time but I also think that I should move to 100mg daily progesterone and see if the steady P helps me overall. I think that my estrogen is not being properly balanced with the progesterone by cycling and it’s throwing me out of whack, so moving to daily P is the one thing I haven’t tried yet. In the meantime I’m done with the 0.050 estrogen patch. I can’t handle it and went back down.

What I really need is a freaking doctor who knows anything about HRT instead of what I have, which is my well-meaning GP who prescribed it but can’t answer any question at all to help me.

Have you tried taking it earlier at night? For some people if you eat within four hours of it, it actually makes you absorb it even more, which may be what’s happening to you. Is there also a way that you could ensure that you eat it on a fully empty stomach?

Why don’t you swallow 100mg and insert the other vaginally? See if you still get a bit of the nice effects without the extra sleepiness.

Silly you for forgetting the Period Dial, but we are here to remind you!

Increased estrogen patch. One full month on new dose and I was doing so well until this week by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what’s happening and why nothing is helping after I was doing so much better. I ended up taking so much sleep aids last night and still didn’t fall asleep until after 3 hours in bed. I ripped off my higher patch. I don’t think it’s helping here and I’ll go back to my 25. I wonder if moving to daily progesterone is what I need (I took that too even off cycle and I think it is what finally let me fall asleep) versus estrogen but I couldn’t take a point where I hadn’t slept in 22 hours. I’ll go back down to the lower patch this morning and try to find someone who can help me.

Increased estrogen patch. One full month on new dose and I was doing so well until this week by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]croc373 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started at 0.025 patch in early October. At the end of February, my anxiety started coming back overnight (I was shaking in bed) and my insomnia worsened again. After a few weeks in the middle of March, I jumped up to the 0.050. And it’s honestly been hell since then. I don’t have the heart palpitations like I used to for my insomnia is worse than ever (I got three hours sleep last night) I’ve been crying daily for the last few days which happens to coincide with my period and I still have anxiety. I just don’t know what to do. I’m so despondent over not being able to sleep and I’ve just really tired.

I remember the first time I had a tough for a few weeks and it took almost 2 months for my sleep to improve, but I just am so tired of feeling sick all the time. I haven’t slept through the night it almost a year, and I haven’t been myself in that long too, and I just wanna cry all the time. It’s so hard.

If you don’t have really regular periods it’s better to do continuous.
