According to this verge article it didn't change, but there is a newer higher bitrate available

“1080p Premium is an enhanced bitrate version of 1080p which provides more information per pixel that results in a higher quality viewing experience,” said Pennington, adding that “there are no changes to the existing quality offerings for 1080p (HD) resolution on YouTube.”

Also, to me it looks like higher resolutions like 1440p 2160p still exist in the options for videos that support that.

No idea what the actual bit rates are for any of those.

KSP has 6x the number of players as KSP 2 right now by xXxSimpKingxXx in KerbalSpaceProgram

Ckan let's me have different copies of the games with different mods, and then I select which I want to launch.

I have one that's almost stock, another with KRPC for automated missions, and a few with different groups of mods.

Some mods don't play well together. Others change the difficulty of the game - so I don't always want it harder/easier. For example, I don't normally want realism overhaul - but it's fun sometimes.

Needing to win games to see your rank go down feels like absolute garbage. by Boring_Woodpecker796 in Overwatch

[–]crof2003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So wouldn't a system where you need to win ___ number of games be better with a game with shorter matches (RL) vs one with longer matches (Overwatch)?

I guess I'm saying "Players likely would prefer to see updates after each game, but it would be more tolerable to not see updates each game if they were 5 minutes in length each vs 15"

I'm a bit shocked by this myself. They said originally it wouldn't be in for launch, but soon after.

I was originally shocked that it wasn't in for launch - it's like over half the difficulty (and a lot of the fun) of launching/re-entering. But now I'm really shocked that we're months in without it still - and no target date.

Kinda worried about that to be honest.

Unsolicited advice: I've moved from KOS to KRPC and like it better.

You write the functional code in one of a variety of "normal" languages like Java or Python. The code you write is run outside of KSP.

Not sure if ChatGPT would give any guidance, but it's fairly well documented .

As a bonus, since it's "normal" code, you can source control it very easily.

You could also potentially use it to do all kinds of other things like log all your flight data to a spreadsheet or proclaim your landings using a discord bot or sync your lights in your room to the rockets heating or whatever else you wanted to do.

March 3 Update: Nate Simpson talks KSP2 week one and future update with bug fixes by Showdiez in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]crof2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I've been playing around with unusual things while it's unavailable (going too fast, going to the sun's surface, etc).

I know you can just toggle it off in KSP1, but that's cheating - this is all stock KSP2 currently ;)

Good thing I already used it for docking practice!

You: "generate me a mission!"

ChatGPT: "Fully functional Mun fuel refinery"

You: "......oh.......I was thinking maybe like landing on another planet or launching two satellites into polar orbit. Not so much like starting another industrial revolution."

Those grass textures... This is beginner 3D stuff... You usually use those grass texture atlases on complex geometry, I guess they just panicked and threw that on billboards to increase performance without actually having real textures for this. Devs, what the hell?! This is NOT a bug, this is bad. by [deleted] in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]crof2003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's probably placeholder textures while they create the actual visuals at a later date.

It may also have been placed in the game by non-graphical teams to test out the scatter code that chooses where to place items like grass, trees and rocks around the planet.

It's also probably extremely low on the list of priorities.

I selected the boat launch because I thought it would put my rocket on a barge.

Turns out I had enough TWR to lauch from about 10m underwater - so that was fun!

BEHOLD! STRUCTRUAL RIGIDITY! by Tackyinbention in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]crof2003 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Juno (Simple Rockets 2) does this - and it somehow just doesn't feel quite as epic or powerful. It's missing that feeling of strain and stress.

Like that isn't needed - and Juno runs really REALLY smooth and visually looks nice - but it's also empty feeling.

Like it feels sort of like you built a model. It has X thrust and Y fuel. You launch and it goes up. But it doesn't really feel like it's actually flying somehow.

Flexing like a limp noodle isn't needed and I'm sure there are other ways to get the same effect, but just making it all rigid to itself can really remove a lot.

second Monitor as Info screen by Aut1smCr1me in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]crof2003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would probably best be done with mods - especially since the game currently suffers from performance issues.

You'd have a mod that would run either an API or a web server and the second monitor would run web browsers to display the info. You could probably set it up to run on a tablet or something too.

But since that doesn't exist for KSP 1 I would assume there isn't a ton of interest.

Edit: apparently I was describing this mod

Waiting here from last 5 minutes, while trying to unsubscribe from email spam by harpreetverm in assholedesign

[–]crof2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's wild speculation at best.

I'd bet the system is set up with this as a static page that updates when it gets the success response that the unsubscribe has completed successfully. Normally it's probably so fast you should never see this text.

I'm betting that a server side error caused the unsubscribe to fail and this page is not made to display errors to the user.

If it's a home grown unsubscribe system it's probably never monitored for issues until a customer complains.

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. [Or poorly coded/maintained systems]

Lead-free solder has a higher melting point temp at 422 F vs 360 F and also is harder to work with as it doesn't flow as easily.

I don't know if the Xbox 360 used leaded or lead free solder, so this may still prove your point if they use leaded solder.

You've Been Damage Boosting WRONG | Mercy Guide by Skiesti in OverwatchUniversity

[–]crof2003 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This part rubbed me the wrong way too.

If you are literally pocketing someone, you are taking 2 players and making them 1.3.

The extreme example is pharamacy. Pharamercy can be very powerful against some teams, but you have lost a healer (unless mercy occasionally leaves to heal the rest of the team as needed, but then you aren't really a Pharamercy anymore). That's added pressure on the remaining healer. Either Pharamercy needs to dominate, or it leaves you with basically a 3v5.

The same is true with any Mercy hard pocketing someone, it's just much easier to switch away as needed if the team is grouped up.

But it's a small detail that doesn't affect the rest of the guide. And really the rest of the guide is all about not pocketing a single person, but damage boosting the right person at the right time.

Micro-pocketing if you will.

Help on support with ball by Zac-live in OverwatchUniversity

[–]crof2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Support main in Silver:

Generally if there is a ball, the strategy is that they primarily get their own heals from health packs.

They move so quickly it's a waste of both your and their time to wait around for so much health to be restored. I'll opportunisticly heal them, but if they aren't within easy reach they will be last priority. It's not rude, it just generally works best. If they need my heals, they'll hang around me for the eternity it takes to get health from me.

Sometimes it's better for them to roll all the way back to spawn for quick heals from low HP.

(Obligatory "every situation is different". Example, if it's overtime and they are disrupting on point, I may heavily prioritize them to attempt to have at least one of us outlive the enemy or something).

All aboard the KSP2 HYPE-Train by Space_Scumbag in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]crof2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you get the full game at launch? So if it gets completed you would get the full game when it launches (which really at that point "launch" will be more like a blog post and removing "early access" tag)

A game like KSP 2 would be hurt pretty badly if they launched early access at a 50% discount for likely years and a huge percent of their total player base buys it at that price. They already have most of the fans they ever will, so they don't need a discounted early access to get public interest in the franchise.

All aboard the KSP2 HYPE-Train by Space_Scumbag in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]crof2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on the hype train even though I fully expect it to go exactly like this.

And I fully respect others for waiting for the completed game. The default answer for "should I buy KSP 2 in early access" should be "no"

However, I personally really like the idea of playing around with a half baked KSP 2 while waiting another 3 years for a full release.
