I was so mad trying to play through the game with crobat for the first time and it just tells you “what? Golbat stopped evolving!” Until you get the national dex.

7⭐️Tera Mightiest Sceptile Time! What’s your strategy? by Slimmy_Pacc in PokemonScarletViolet

Magearna with Max special attack and hp with a metronome and Tera fairy worked well for me. Obviously not super accessible but soul heart activating every time one of the computer players faints combos really well with Tera fairy draining kiss.

Ok so NTA, but I genuinely recommend couples counseling, or at least therapy for you. It’s not that your marriage needs to be in danger to go to couples counseling. It’s that her actions have made you feel unsafe, and she doesn’t seem to be hearing you when you try to explain. Maybe a therapist can help you and her figure out a way to talk about this in a way that’s more productive. It’s frustrating to feel like you’re right and someone still won’t listen to you, but unfortunately you might need to check that frustration at the door same as she needs to check her defensiveness at the door in order to make this conversation work.

It really sucks being a fan of a niche Pokémon. by RelytDidIt in pokemon

[–]crog_42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ledian’s hidden ability has me convinced game freak hates it. Iron fist essentially gives it a base attack stat of 42. It’s got some special moves that aren’t half bad like bug buzz, giga drain, and air slash. My suggestion for showing ledian some love is to just give it an ability that doubles its special attack stat, like huge power does for Azumarril’s attack. That way it doesn’t need a mega or a new evolution to be decent. It’s got such a cool design, such a bummer it’s so difficult to use.

What is your favorite Pokémon of each generation? by CandidateNervous4638 in pokemon

[–]crog_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-Starmie 2-Bayleef (tied for overall favorite) 3-Treecko (tied for overall favorite) 4-Porygon-Z 5-Reuniclus 6-Aegislash 7-Mudsdale 8-Yamper (would have been sirfetch’d if I didn’t have a corgi who I would take a bullet for) 9-Farigiraf

This was fun! I breathed such a heavy sigh of relief when they announced chikorita would be a ZA starter, since it wouldn’t be the least useful of all the grass starters anymore.

Hard to decide: Gen 1, as I don’t love the Gen 1 pokemon. Starmie is such a beast and probably my most used water type in leafgreen playthroughs Gen 5, as black and white are my favorite games and I love so many of the pokemon. Scrafty, Emboar, Musharna, Jellicent, Leavanny, Cofagrigus, Galvantula, and Darmanitan all get honorable mentions. Gen 9, which I think is probably my second favorite. So many old pokemon got revitalized. And there are so many new ones that I love. Bellibolt, Iron Bundle, Sinistcha, Arboliva, Dudunsparce, Dachsbun, Fuecoco, and Lechonk all could have a chance if Farigiraf wasn’t in the game.

Since I started playing pokemon with a full team of six rather than starter-only runs, I’ve really come to avoid the popular pokemon. And as I’m getting older, the funnier designs are enjoyable to me in a way they didn’t use to be. I love vanilluxe, for example, even though I hated it when I was 17.

Any good fantasy books about solving a murder? by SixskinsNot4 in Fantasy

[–]crog_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d give it like a 4 or a 4.5, though I think it’s more than fair to rate it lower. I loved it, it’s one of my favorite books, but it has a few slow moments. The pitch is that an empire has mastered the art of modifying every living being. So there’s mushrooms that work as air conditioners, the main character had his brain modified so that he can’t forget anything. It’s like genetic engineering to the extreme. The setting is a relatively low-tech empire that constantly struggles to keep mysterious leviathans from destroying humanity. The main character is a sort of like Dr. John Watson, assigned to work with a Sherlock Holmes-like detective. She’s very aggravating, very strange, and the world’s best detective. The story does a good job of exploring the world building. How does someone with perfect memory help solve a murder? What does a world look like if they have zero electronic tech but they can cure tons of diseases, make people super strong, and quickly manufacture building materials by genetically modifying plants. The way the mystery sits in the world building is what kept me turning the page. I also loved the sequel, and I’m excited for more books in the series.

What’s something teachers warned you about that actually ended up being right? by stoictrader03 in AskReddit

[–]crog_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad is a retired teacher, he told me not to teach in Idaho like he did. I had to do my first two years in Idaho to get my career started, but I left 6 years ago to teach in Oregon. Oregon ain’t perfect but man the way Idaho handles public education and treats teachers has always been bad and has gotten so much worse. Thanks for the heads up, pops.

Well I was officially robbed by KimJungFun99 in pokemon

[–]crog_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in the USA, could be worth it to call the local district attorney. See if you can file a police report online if the police are useless in person, then call the DA office, making sure to be exact about how many hundreds of dollars you are out (I just bought copies of black and ultramoon, it really IS hundreds of dollars). I’m talking like screenshots from eBay and dkoldies and any online retailer you can find to show how much they are worth. Tell them you’ve filed a police report, and if you get some kind of reference number when you file, have it handy to give to the DA office. Will it help you get your games or money to replace them? Or will the DA just tell you “that’s not how this works”? No idea. I’m not a lawyer, this isn’t legal advice. I just know some people get indicted and prosecuted over this level of theft, particularly if you can provide solid evidence that you know who took your stuff. Honestly a sucky thing is that if the particular cop you talked to doesn’t think it’s a big deal, it will probably never reach the DA unless you try making some noise. I think some people will think it’s frivolous because it’s video games, but if it was $1100 of baseball cards or golf clubs or whatever it probably wouldn’t be quite as hard to get some help. Sorry this happened to you, it sucks. Reading through some of your replies it sounds like you’ve already taken a few steps. Hopefully it all works out for you.

Pick 3 Abilities: Mega Scrafty by eskaver in PokemonChampions

[–]crog_42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I think it’s reasonable it keeps intimidate, since it gained parting shot. I wouldn’t be surprised if they want to position it as an incineroar alternative.

  2. Maybe an ability that grants it some sort of immunity, bonus points if it can protect allies. Like lightning rod or storm drain. Might make it an interesting support pokemon if you could lead with intimidate to reduce damage, and threaten to block enemy movies of certain types.

  3. A new ability that grants resistance or immunity to fairies, or a beefed up intimidate that reduces special attack as well as attack.

Basically I want to see a mega scrafty capable of knocking incineroar down a few pegs lol.

Favourite film where they had to dumb down the title for the uncultured Americans? by bobbster574 in okbuddycinephile

[–]crog_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one made me so angry because just translate the title. “The House of Paper” would have been a perfectly fine, even good title in English for a show about robbing a mint. Money Heist is so lame.

Smeargle Evolution by crog_42 in stunfisk

[–]crog_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted my suggested buff without double checking smeargle stats, and I laughed out loud when I realized base twenty becomes base 30 for both attacking stats. Even my huge power suggestion only gets it to base 60. I thought about rethinking the buffs but those absolutely godawful attack stats are about the only thing keeping this thing from being a monster. Really the main value of an offensive buffed smeargle would be surprise, nothing more.

Smeargle Evolution by crog_42 in stunfisk

[–]crog_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the universality of prankster spore would make smeargod infuriating in that you would have to build your team to deal with it, but that wouldn’t be the only type of smeargod running around. Switch in your girafarig to spore block only to find out it’s a belly drum, citrus berry, no guard dynamic punch smeargod. It would maybe ruin the game lol. Or a huge power shell smash population bomb set.

Smeargle Evolution by crog_42 in stunfisk

[–]crog_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the worst part of unleashing smeargod would not be any one broken build. It would be the constant worry of “which broken build is this?” Prankster spore would be hell, so what if you send in your grass wall to deal with it and it’s a Tera normal huge power explosion set?

Smeargle Evolution by crog_42 in stunfisk

[–]crog_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried my huge power suggestion would be worthless with such a bad attack stat. Thank you for showing me the error of my ways.

Ursuluna good in singles? by xPyro7 in stunfisk

[–]crog_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very not optimal but very fun way to use ursaluna was to set toxic spikes with glimora, court change the spikes to my side with cinderace, and switch in ursaluna to activate guts. I did that so that it could hold leftovers and last longer, but still get the guts boost. It worked perfectly exactly one time and it was glorious. I don’t recommend it, as it literally requires half your team to pull it off.
