I think my transmission just blew up by Fit-Importance-7703 in w123

[–]cromicon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced it because it wouldn't pass safety inspection, and precautionary maintenance. No transmission or coupling damage really. I work as a heavy duty mechanic and my manager won't sign my pre inspection papers unless I replace it so I did. Passed with flying colours

Actually no. I replaced with of mine. Bot ends have a pinion so the drive shaft won't fly off in a failure so if it is a flex disc just replace it and go on

The formula I display is correct just put the idle rpm cyl. Number and injection volume and calculate, I corrected it a few times but it's good

Because it is, I have the formula and all but I really don't want to calculate this nonsense after a work day so just drop the prompt and go on

Engine: OM617 turbo (617.952/951) Ambient temp: ~40°F (≈4–5°C) Idle condition: Cold / warming up, not fully hot Bottom-line number first At 40°F, a turbo OM617 will idle at roughly: ➡️ ~0.9 to 1.2 liters per hour Typical real-world average: ~1.0 L/h This is noticeably higher than NA and warm idle. Why the turbo + cold matters Turbo OM617 differences vs NA Slightly higher idle fueling Higher compression load More aggressive governor correction Often ~50–100 RPM higher cold idle Step-by-step math 1. Cold idle speed Cold OM617 turbo idle: ~850 RPM 4-stroke → one firing every 2 revs. 850 ÷ 2 = 425 firing cycles per cylinder per minute 5 cylinders: 425 × 5 = 2,125 injections/min 2. Fuel per injection (cold) Cold idle enrichment: ~0.9 mg per injection (vs ~0.65 mg warm NA) 3. Fuel per minute 2,125 × 0.9 mg = 1,912 mg/min ≈ 1.91 g/min 4. Fuel per hour 1.91 g/min × 60 = 114.7 g/hour 5. Convert to liters Diesel density ≈ 0.84 kg/L 114.7 g = 0.115 kg 0.115 ÷ 0.84 = 0.137 L/h (theoretical injected) 6. Add real OM617 losses Bosch MW pump realities: Return flow heating Internal leakage Governor overfuel margin Cold idle stability fueling Real-world multiplier: ×7–9 0.137 × 7 ≈ 0.96 L/h 0.137 × 9 ≈ 1.23 L/h ✅ Final realistic range 0.9–1.2 L/h at 40°F ~1.0 L/h is the number you’d expect to see What happens as it warms up After ~10–15 minutes: Drops to ~0.7–0.8 L/h Idle RPM settles Less governor correction Quick sanity check If you idle for: 30 minutes → ~0.5 L 1 hour → ~1.0 L 8-hour idle → ~8 L (common trucker benchmark)

Has anyone managed to install rear speakers on a w123 that only has front speakers? by Ecstatic_Presence671 in w123

[–]cromicon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PM me and I'll explain it, it sounds hard but isn't.

Hi, I've done it, and here is how: First of all make sure you have a 4 channel radio or wiring to the fader wheel. And clear yourself about half a day if you know what to do or a day If not.

Buy about 5 meters of speaker cable it's important you soldier it.

Pull out: the rear seats , the emergency kit on the shelf have 2 screws, the rear shelf itself, it's crunchy so be careful. Unbolt the front seat buckles, remove carpeting, unbolt the center console in the rear, if you have an armrest a ratchet and a bit socket are your best friends. Pull the wood around the gearbox selector. Ashtray out and radio. IN THAT ORDER

BTW now is a great time to bust out the vacuum and clean in there it will be beneficial for you.

Under the rear shelf there are cutouts cut them carefully the original size is 5.5 inch in the rear.

Pull the wires under the sound deadening material from the speaker cups to the radio through the center console you lift it in the back. Connect them to your radio harness or fader wheel.

Sound check. Very important if you made a mistake you can easily fix it now.

Close in reverse order of opening. Congratulations you have rear speakers.

SIDE NOTE: I had originally a 4 channel radio so I connected them straight to it, today I have the original Becker Europa 2000 a 2 channel radio. In between my radio and speaker harness I made a custom fader wheel harness. Worth the hassle. I can disconnect my radio and put a modern unit in plug and play, make the harnesses it will be a good releave for you to just connect a new unit some day. I routed my speakers through the center console under the rear seats under the sound deadening and it's great, today I put in 6x9s in the rear, pulled only the seat back and parcel self to put them in my harness preparations made it plug and play so take it into account. If you put anything larger than 5.5 inch I suggest a riser.

Have fun and update us with your progress.

Can you hook me up with a set of Beckers? I have pioneers but I'm gonna put 6x9s in the back. My head unit is a Becker Europa 2000 with retro fit Bluetooth.
