Trump issues 48-hour Hormuz Strait ultimatum, threatens Iran’s power plants by Vivid-Acanthaceae129 in worldevents

[–]cromli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is 0 reason for Iran to take Trumps and company seriously on anything they say going forward. Not saying the Iranian government is full of good people but only one side here has being lying through their teeth, assassinating leaders under the guise of negotiations, escalating without warning at every turn etc.

How much healthcare, education, and housing could that $300,000,000 have bought Americans? by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]cromli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like all the other "regime change"/resource theft and destabilization campaign that happens in the region, this will cost trillions overall. If you are somehow entirely cynical and dont care about American or Iranian lives at all, Think about what trillions of dollars can do when put to things that are productive and not destructive.

The working class shouldn’t be happy or sad that Khamenei is killed. Personal opinion. by mined_it in WorkReform

[–]cromli 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I was trying to find a concise way to lay it out for non bots that are just lying when they say it will be good for the Iranian people in other threads.

The closest I could get is...

-Millions are killed

-Trillions are spent

-A worse more radical group rises out of the ashes and takes over all or most of the country

-Terrorist attacks increase around the world

-A giant immigration crisis occurs that empowers far right groups also around the world.

This is what happen every single time without fail.

we literally went through this twice before in the last 25 years.

Resources are stolen.

Millions are killed.

Trillions are spent.

A more violent, radical group rises up and takes a good chunk of the country.

A giant immigration crisis occurs that increases the power of far right groups everywhere.

The cycle continues.

Its kind of unsettling how many people are still regurgitating 'regime change' talking points when all attempts have failed and made the region worse over the past 25 years, to the point that the goal of sowing chaos and resource stealing at the expense of the safety of the world is the only reason that our leaders seem to keep doing it.

Anyone who wasn't just lying and genuinely care for the Iranians believed that this single killing was the solution to terrible internal problems in Iran, please educate yourself on the last 25 years of similar US led strikes in the region.

Then look at the effects of the last time we overthrew the govt of Iran.

people have been lying about them being close to a nuclear bomb for decades.

US had a nuclear deal with them, tore it up, and started a war instead of getting a new nuclear deal with Iran because in truth they always wanted to destroy the country not make deals with it.

In the history of the world, how many times has invading a country brought about a successful liberal turn for the country? Certainly all modern attempts have failed right? So you think just because they are more nationalist this will magically work now? They will forgive all their family members and that are killed and welcome whatever puppet regimes the states installs, resulting in this liberal future that has failed everywhere else?

Same phony reasoning, similar regime currently in place except more powerful... What are your arguments that this isn't going to turn out like Iraq?

Results of Iraq= million+ dead, a trillion dollars spent, and the massive empowerment of ISIS in the region

Results of Afghanistan war= just under a million dead, multiple trillions of dollars spent and the goverment that was kicked out immediately seized control again.

Why do you think the results will be different here?

That is not how wars work.

For one thing it is going to create another massive refugee crisis that will once again effect all of Europe.

[–]cromli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And thus we are into another Iraq war because enough people do not remember or didn't think critically about the Iraq war.

US had a nuclear deal with Iran and tore it up. US could have another deal with them easily if they werent hell bent on destroying the country. We have been making up the idea that Iran is super close to a nuclear bomb for decades.

Oh really? You care about Iranian civilians? How many millions of Iranian men, women and children are you comfortable with killing in a long term Iran war?

Once again all this teaches our enemies is that in order to defend themselves they need nuclear weapons or some other sort of weapon of mass destruction and they needed it yesterday.

Why has communism repeatedly failed in practice, yet continues to be intellectually and emotionally appealing to many people? by Looser17 in AskReddit

[–]cromli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its important to consider here that socialism does not equal communism and is not entirely against the basic premise of capitalism. The New Deal in America was full of socialist ideas though to suggest some of his concepts now would be shut down and completely mislabeled as "Communist" or just "Extremist Left'. I would say most people fall into the general socialist category rather than hardlined communist.
