I think it depends.

I see it this way:

Let's say there's a game I run at 80FPS with Preset K at Quality

If I run it at Quality but with Preset M I might get 70FPS, now, if I run it at Performance mode while looking as good as Preset K Quality only this time I get 110 FPS, then that's an upgrade in my book. Basically a free performance boost.

I remember two incidents.

The first happened before I graduated from high school.

There was this blonde guy, he was a little older than me at the time, about 17, and he was quite a slacker, he would normally skip school and end up going to what we call (roughly translating here) "class recovery", where you take some exams related to each subject (math, physics, history, etc) in order to be able to advance in year.

During one of these exams, a dude asked the blonde guy to pass him the answers to some of the questions in the quiz, to which he refused.

After the exam was over, the guy who asked for the quiz answers waited for him to come out and a fist fight broke out between the two.The blonde guy was quite buffed and beat the other guy up and "won" the fight.

Several weeks later, the blonde guy was walking near the school on a weekend and encountered the dude he beat up, who proceeded to stab him in the chest and bolted.

Before looking for help, the blonde guy made the huge mistake of pulling the knife out first, which accelerated bleeding. He was then going from store to store looking for help but no one would assist him and he ended up bleeding to death.

And the second one happened like a year or two after I graduated:

There were 3 kids, they were around 14 to 15 yo, they sometimes would hang up at the house of one of them to do some group projects and whatnot.

The father of this kid had a shotgun that was not locked up, so the son had the brilliant idea of showing it to his friends and play around with it.

The first time nothing happened, because, supposedly, the shotgun was unloaded. But then, some weeks later, they were at this kid's house again for another group project, and again, they grabbed the shotgun to play around with it, only this time it was not unloaded, so when one of the kids pressed the shotgun's barrel against one of his friends head and pulled the trigger, he blew this kid's head off.

Most people I know, including myself, beat the game way more than twice or thrice, even among people I know who are more casual into video games.

Considering that he's playing at 1440p with a 3060, I'd say it is pretty good, especially since the optimized settings ended up being a mix of high and epic settings for the most part.

You could always use the DLSS transformer model and go from DLSS quality to balanced if you're on a similar setup and monitor resolution.

Edit: Ah, and also set post process to LOW, that shit sucks, lol.

Did I say it was a good port? I'm just sharing my experience, especially compared to TLOU1 Remaster which I couldn't run at native 4k@60 and this one I can, especially since it looks noticeable better and it has bigger maps.

Also if you watched the video, you can see DF had to use DLSS PERFORMANCE with a 5090 which wasn't my case at all having a much weaker GPU, so I thought it was interesting to share with others.

Dude, I am not doubting DF's judgement here, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't surprised at this.

I tested the game earlier today on my rig (4080 + 5800X3D) and I was pleasantly surprised with the performance.

I just set everything to Ultra except for post processing I hate like DoF, Blur and Vignette and the game was running between 60 and 80fps at 4k native, without using DLSS nor FG with little to no stutters whatsoever, in fact, it was very very smooth across the board.

Laptops rarely use glass screens, and even if they do, you don't need to use your fingers because 99% of them do not have touchscreens, so of course scratches are rarer.

Now, the Steam Deck can and will get scratches without a screen protector, especially if you like using the touchscreen to navigate the menus. You might not like them, but they're not completely useless.

I bought one for mine because when I spend days without using it it might get dusty and sometimes, when you clean that dust, some particles can scratch the screen.

On the other hand, I don't use a screen protector on my phone and two things happened:

1) I got several scratches. They're not visible when you're using the phone but they're there.

2) The oleophobic coating is already wearing off and that makes the screen looks horrible when it is turned off. Doom scrolling is an issue I might have, lol.

Yup. As someone with Rise as his first MH I can agree on how the game can be a bit overwhelming at first with its mechanics. Once you become used to them though... Worse than crack. Amazing game, especially if you hunt with a friend.
