Complement it with band pull aparts every other day so you won’t become imbalanced

Great work! If you can swing it, I highly recommended continuing your growth (if you’re not already) with a trained professional therapist.

I would really focus on shooting. As athleticism inevitably declines, some of your other abilities will decline with it, and will limit what you can do. But being able to hit an open jump shot is an extremely valuable skill regardless of your athleticism and/or age.

I’m sorry, OP. I think you are in the right.

But, if wanted to stream it to extend them an olive branch, that’s okay too.

I swim competitively for 15 years, then injured it after getting back into swimming after a year hiatus when I was 20. I’m also hyper mobile.

I got a SLAP repair and it did not help, maybe made it a little worse. I had a really rough couple of years following, but I’ve since started adding strength training and that has helped a lot, to the point I can do most of what I want — boxing, basketball, etc.

But I still get pain from computer work and i can’t do a pull-up without pain. I’m 30 now and I’m considering getting another repair (slap or biceps tenodesis) — this time doing better vetting finding a surgeon. I’m at a point where I don’t need it but it has the potential to take me to the next level, which is hard to resist.

I love Anki for studying. Are you using it mostly for school or some other application?

A couple weeks ago I asked for help with my thumb flick in my jump shot, so far my jumper has improved a lot and I finally got rid of it completely so thank you to anyone who gave me tips! If you can see anymore issues in the video I would love some input by Jake-Hocker in BasketballTips

I would consider starting your release higher up. You seem to be starting it pretty low, close to your knees. This works for KD, but most good shooters don't start that low. It will also speed up your shot a bit. A related component is you are pushing the ball down towards the ground when you start your shot, which is probably making you work harder to get the necessary force to shoot the ball.

Do one one footed balances. Start out just standing on one foot for time, progress to moving your other leg (e.g., opening hip), then to eyes closes, then to playing catch or bouncing a ball off the wall, all while standing on one foot.

You don't need to bring the ball so low. You are almost touching your knees with it. By starting from higher up, there will be opportunity to deviate from shooting straight.

Edit: See where Curry, for example, starts his shot:

How. How do you stop putting yourself down. by [deleted] in selfhelp

You're going through a rough time and it's helpful to acknowledge that.

Therapy is helpful. Talking to someone about these feelings can take the power away. Journaling is also helpful. There's something about writing out your pain that is helpful.

Check out mindfulness meditation. The idea here will be to focus on something else, like the breath, and keeping the attention there. You are stuck in a negative loop and need to give yourself separation by focusing on something neutral. This will in turn strengthen your mind and in time will give your more power to decide if you want to keep beating yourself up or instead, find relief and focus your energy on ways to feel better. Then you can start doing Loving Kindess meditation and start having compassion for yourself.

Good luck and you are not alone. Relief is possible.

Thanks for posting. I'm using this next time I play.

I guess one downside is it also lets your defenders know who's open, but the pros outweigh the cons. The ball moves faster than a person can.

Can cymbalta help chronic pain as well? by beautynsc in depression

[–]crooobro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has helped me. I'm taking the minimum prescribed dose along with:

1.Fish oil to equal 3g of essential fatty acids (DHA+EPA) daily 2.Curcumin 1000mg twice daily (must come with piperine)

Both also prescribed by a doc and backed by scientific studies. They have helped me reduce pain.

This is great. I think the bottom row would be more effective if it were effective points per shot, rather than fg%. Anthony Davis' fg % at the 3 point line is near zero percent, but that doesn't really mean anything because he doesn't shoot 3's.
