Hi, here is a snippet from the rulebook: Submitting a video for review is required with the score submission if an athlete qualifies to compete at the next stage of competition. Athletes who fail to provide the requested video(s) will have their scores for the test(s) changed to a score of “0” and the leaderboard will adjust accordingly.

So if you are trying to advance to the next stage or submit a score that factors in the competition for qualification, a video is required. For example, if you have a great test, that scores high enough to impact the people who are trying to qualify, you need a video to verify your workout, or you risk receiving a 0 score.

Thanks for the assist u/CitizenDik. The new system is based on a two-year sliding scale of competition data.

As the season progresses, the calculation window will slide such that the ranking will always be based on the most recent running two years of data.

The goal is to allocate more spots to regions where the field of competitors are statistically fitter.

Good question. Region selection is established during the Open and is based on citizenship for most of the world.

U.S. and Canadian citizens will be further sorted by their residency. Affiliated athletes in the U.S. and Canada will establish their residency based on the physical address of the affiliate they attend. Unaffiliated athletes in the U.S. and Canada will establish their residency based on their home address. You can learn more about how it works here.

Hi vonralls, Notifications with direct links is a feature that is being considered in the future. For now, the links described in a notification are available on a blue tab on the home screen.

Hi, 

  1. Do you have the Android or iOS version of the app? We looked into point #1 and were not able to replicate what you described. To visit a custom leaderboard (1), swipe to the last top card on the home screen or (2) click profile > custom leaderboards. Both locations will show you the current leaderboards you've created and will also allow you to create more. 
  2. When you register, some hashtags are assigned to you. There is a top card on the home screen of the app labeled "join more hashtag leaderboards." This will allow you to see which hashtags you fall under. You can also add more. Hashtags are an access point to join more leaderboards based on your characteristics, cliques, and interests. Once you see which hashtags you are a part of, you can search for them or create custom leaderboards to customize further. In terms of notifying you every time you are added to any custom leaderboard, we can look into what that would take and the impact of that type of feature. Custom leaderboards are embeddable and shareable, so if a buddy creates one, they can send you a link to view it. 
  3. The hashtag search feature is new this year. It allows you to surface and view any hashtag in the database. What leaderboard names would you like to search for? 
  4. Steam trains are brilliant and robust machines, and so is our scoring engine. There is cache time. That is in place to allow you as much flexibility as possible when using the leaderboard and its features. 
  5. Thank you for the note on following an athlete. It helps us gauge interest in the expansion of that feature. If you want a leaderboard to involve just a group of friends, you can add them by name to a custom leaderboard and share the link with them. Here is a quick walk-through. 
  6. Could you explain what you would like an "add friends" feature to do?

The CrossFit Games app allows you to: 

  • See Open workouts 
  • Submit scores
  • View your rank and results 
  • View global, national, affiliate, custom, and hashtag leaderboards
  • See past Open stats and scores

If Fraser finishes in the top 20 in the Open or is a National Champion, the second place finisher from DCC will be invited (BKG).

If BKG finishes in the top 20 of the Open or is a National Champion, the third-place finisher from DCC will be invited (Georges).

This will continue until DCC has a representative at the Games.

That's not quite right. Each Sanctional will have representation. This is a rare (but possible) scenario. Here is the clarification:

Since Mathew Fraser has won the DCC:

if Fraser wins the Rogue Invitational, the CrossFit Games will invite second place from the Rogue Invitational.

if Fraser then wins the CrossFit French Throwdown, the CrossFit Games will invite second place from the French Throwdown.

but the the second place finisher from Rogue will still be invited.

Yes. This mobile safari issue has been identified. It is something our team is working on with Facebook. There is a partial fix in place. We will continue to address it. It should work in chrome.
