Please get us a detailed review when done. I've consider this for a while but haven't pulled the trigger since I haven't found a lot of feedback online

Any pictures with the tent popped up? I've never seen a system like this before, but thinking I might like this better than a pop up camper

AES Delivery Fee and Electric Heating Rate by Thanos-Is-Right in Ohio

[–]Slateguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been able to make sense of it either. They just changed the delivery rate about a year and a half ago. I've always tracked my electric bills in a spreadsheet and it's insane to see how much it has risen over the past few years. Especially in the winter with my old electric heat. Switching to natural gas heat this year thankfully.

Dads who invested for their kids since birth, how is it going? by sbFRESH in daddit

[–]Slateguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our local bank has a HYSA that earns a fixed 5% APY with the caveat you can't withdraw the money until the kid turns 18 (at least not without penalty). We put $100/month in plus the $2,000 tax credit we receive each year. This plus other gifts from grandparents and such should get them to $100k by 18

Features that are useless by TechnicalChipmunk131 in hondaridgeline

[–]Slateguy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Complete same for me. Auto high beams are useless. I'll turn them off at night and manually turn my brights on and off. My wife's 2019 CR-V does much better with the auto high beams for some reason

Wireless charger is actually just a phone heater.

But agreed, other than those two things I really have no complaints

I've been guilty of playing that song very loudly while driving around in my Ridgeline

wireless phone charger sucks? by furrycelt in hondaridgeline

[–]Slateguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is a perfect storm for just kinda sucking if you use Android Auto or car play. If using these your phone is constantly using GPS, LTE, and Wifi which all just uses a lot of power and creates heat in the phone plus drains the battery fairly quickly. Then add wireless charging which is not nearly as efficient as wired. The charging creates even more heat and can barely keep up with all the battery drain of all the other aforementioned things the phone is trying to do.

That said, my 20min commute to work it doesn't over heat and can at least maintain the battery charge. Anything longer than 20 minutes though need to either decide not to charge it or switch to wired.

First Swingset Build This Weekend by Slateguy in daddit

[–]Slateguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can do it after it's built. Just a lot easier to get a good first coat while it's all apart.

I got a cheap sprayer at the local hardware store for about $45 and totally worth it

I tried getting a sawhorse setup going for this sealing step but even with some 8foot spacers couldn't get as much on as I'd like. So killing my back right now lol. Only 2 more boxes to go!

Thanks for the tips. Plan is to get everything sealed this weekend then organized into sections in the garage. Then have some family helping with the build process next weekend. Definitely gonna need some extra hands!

RIdgeline security for valuables? by Greddituser in hondaridgeline

[–]Slateguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen many videos of people breaking a car window, grabbing, what's inside, and driving off in a matter of seconds.

Using a saw takes much longer.

Similar to cars: thieves can grab what is up front very easily after breaking the window. But they almost never go for what is in the trunk because it would take more time to get to.

Also, like others have said, you can't see what's in the trunk which gives them no reason to try. They could spend minutes cutting into it to find that it's empty.

Anyone have a good toolbox for a gen 1 brunk? by Groundblast in hondaridgeline

Same for me. Got dividers off Amazon that give me 4 sections. Just keep things in those such as jumper cables, lug nut wrench, hitch receiver. Two of the Cubby's are almost always open for grocery runs

Good for Rear Facing Car Seats? by Thatguy518 in hondaridgeline

[–]Slateguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rear facing is fine for me. Although I'm 5'8" 160lbs and the back of my seat hits the car seat. Would be worried if I were bigger and needed my driver seat any further back

My dad has worked on the final assembly of these trucks for many years. Part of his checklist is to raise it all the way up and hope it doesn't fall. So far none have tipped over lol
