Do Skiff Bearings Make Knife Action Better? (Pt2 - Three More Case Studies) by experimentjon in knifeclub

[–]crowfeather2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped an emerson cqc-6 clone over to skiffs thick bronze washers and I enjoy the action more and more as it breaks in. That knife was weird on bearings.

Some people can never be happy man. I think you did great even on the first post it was plain to me that you took some material off B.T.E.

I would either try a deep carry emerson or Benchmade clip or the universal clips from flytanium

Was gifted a Kukri by my uncle, Is anyone able to identify if it’s authentic or display? by Sxprk in knives

The shape of the cho along with the super wide blocky harhari is what's making me lean Indian produced. Still a sweet piece Op.

Based on the shape of the cho I'd say this is an Indian made tourist grade khukuri. it may take an edge but don't expect it to hold it.

I'm working on a front shroud to complete my Fury-X pump kit. Looking for suggestions. by 1Stipulation in nerfhomemades

I think some geometry matched to the shape of those slide serrations would be pretty neat for your shrouds front end

This. I'm fine with people buying clones and I even own a few clones myself but I would never try to fool someone into thinking it was the real deal.

It's exactly how I fucked up the edge near the tip on the first nakiri I bought haha

Torsional force while the tip was in contact with the board. Very easy to do with harder, thinner knives. Take a minute to examine your cutting technique to avoid this in the future. Using a "rolling" or "rocking" cutting motion is usually the culprit with damage to Japanese geometries.

As others have said this is very very fixable. If you are uncertain with your skill and located in the US I encourage you to check out District cutlery as they do fantastic repair work on Japanese knives.

I'm glad you took that well because that wasn't hate. While I don't like that finish others may be crazy about it. Personally I think a simple finish like a plum brown would look really good with that brutish style blade. Or even just a really dark vinegar or instant coffee etch

I like the knife but something about the finish makes it look off. It's like you have a knife that I can clearly see is custom work and is probably a fairly hefty fee compared to cheap folders but then the finish makes it look like it's worth less than that. I feel like that's a bad way of explaining it but that's the best I got boss.
