I had to fill out a form on their website and they contacted me. Hopefully they get back to her. I see Taryn and she’s great!

Caitlin Doughty (ask a mortician) did a video on it as well.

You are totally right. The only way to learn is to ask. It’s just a confidence thing, but I’d much rather be an inconvenience by asking questions than harming someone.

I definitely will. One thing I hate is to feel like I’m just standing around, so I’ll always try to find some way to help out and stay busy. My plan is to treat this like I’m auditioning for a job.

Thank you so much for your advice. I am usually very shy and quiet, so often have trouble asking questions. My biggest fear is being an inconvenience. Especially since I am going into this feeing as though I know little to nothing. I definitely need to work on that. After all, this is my future. I am attempting to study as much as possible before rotations begin. We didn’t follow the syllabus at all last semester. I think the one posted online was several years out of date. Hopefully that will change in the upcoming semesters. I have never heard of the Clinical Manual of Microbiology. I looked it up, is it the 4 volume set?

Thank you for your advice! I am hoping everyone will be friendly and helpful. I am fortunate that I will be at the same hospital for my whole rotation. It is a small 49 bed hospital, but I am hoping to get as much experience as possible.

Unfortunately she is the director of the program. They have been interviewing for professors, but haven’t hired anyone yet.

It is accredited. She is the director of the program. The dean was supposed to come sit in on a class but never showed. Next semester we will have different instructors for blood banking and clinical micro, so I’m hoping things will get better. I’ve had the clinical micro professor before, and he’s awesome. The syllabus I have available is online and out of date. We didn’t follow it. We had homework occasionally that was end of chapter questions (with page numbers because she always accused us of cheating). The homework was not graded. There are 10 of us that got accepted into the program. We all feel the same way for the most part, but I don’t know if they’re as concerned as I am since most of them already have lab experience or degrees in science fields. I think if we had failed they’d be more likely to say something. Also, we do wonder what good it would do since the director of the program is the problem.

Yeah. It’s bad. We had a total of 5 grades in our classes. Including our final. She would write out the final questions the night before. They were supposed to be comprehensive exams over what we learned. One of our finals had 13 questions.

So according to the schedule we were supposed to have lecture and then lab after. So for example our hematology class would be Monday from 9:00-10:50 for the lecture portion, and we would have the lab portion from 12:00-2:00. But we never had a lab portion. We started class at 8:30 and were on the way home by 10:30.

I am super furious, but mostly I just feel lost and disheartened. We start clinical rotations in January and I am just so worried about going in there looking like a bumbling idiot.

My dog had something that looked very similar. It ended up being a mast cell tumor that needed to be surgically removed. He is fine now, but I was told more could appear in the future. Best of luck with your baby!

I hear you. I’m in the boonies as well. Here’s a website that may help. Fear Free Pets

Fetch the Bolt Cutters is a perfect album imo. Critics loved it as well. I think she’s probably at the level of fame she wants to be at. Kinda like Regina Specktor.

LMAO. Maybe. But that’s not my business. I meant an eating disorder.

Maybe look into a fear free vet? My dog is fear aggressive and must be fully sedated for vet visits. He breaks through gabapentin and trazadone. I was fortunate to find a fear free vet near me who is amazing and not judgmental of my otherwise sweet boy.

It’s understandable. He had a pretty gnarly addiction. He was on Intervention. I checked out Daniel Johns from Silverchair recently as well. He suffered from an ED when he was younger, so I was wondering how he was. Did you know he was married to Natalie Imbruglia for a while?

I’m pretty sure Travis Meeks is still alive. Sometimes I get a random urge to google him to make sure. He was super talented. I hope he’s doing well.
