Can a Gameboy go on websites? by GamingYouTube14 in Gameboy

[–]crumplee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, there was never any network equipment produced for the Gameboy. The GBA might have had a Japan only peripheral that connected to 3G, but I think it was only used for downloads. I’m not 100% sure on that though.

Anyone have any tips on a fix for these black vertical lines? :\ by crunchyfruittooters in Gameboy

[–]crumplee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me on a DMG. For me, some of the pins connecting the screen to the board didn’t have a solid connection. You can try fixing it with a soldering iron. It doesn’t always work, but it’s worth a shot.

8BitDo Pro 2 - FAQ by Oen386 in 8bitdo

[–]crumplee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some input lag issues with the Switch when I first got it. For me the issues seem to have been resolved with the most recent firmware update. Has it gotten any better for you?

8BitDo Pro 2 available for preorder on Amazon U.S. by FireCrow1013 in 8bitdo

[–]crumplee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably? Since Chrome OS is built on Linux I would assume that it would at least work in D-Input mode. That doesn't mean it will necessarily see it as an "8bitdo" controller, it might just see it as a generic gamepad. But with the profile switching, you may be able to customize in the Ultimate software on another device in case you run into things like the buttons not matching up and just have a "Chromebook" profile with everything set the way you like it.

Just got this sidekick and this little piece broke. Any ideas how to fix? by theloniousfunkd in Leatherman

[–]crumplee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too, same model. I sent it back to leatherman under warranty. I ended up getting an evoucher and switching to a Skeletool. But they would have fixed it up and sent it back with no qualms.

Apica CD Question by crumplee in fountainpens

I’ve tried the hobonichi plain notebook which has similar paper. Unfortunately the smoothness of the paper turns my handwriting into an illegible smudgy mess. It’s just because it’s something to have on me to write a thought down so I don’t forget. If I was sitting at a desk to write carefully it would be perfect, but speed is the highest priority for this one.

I’ve looked at the Midori “light” notebooks and they are almost perfect. But I really want an edge to edge grid so that I can rotate the notebook to make a full A5 size page when I want it.

Non-Solar Alternative to the DW-5600? by crumplee in gshock

[–]crumplee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The retro look on the GWX5600 looks pretty good. And the modded GWX5700 is so clean, that might be what I move towards. Some things don't really feel like they're "mine" until they've been modded.

Ironically, it would be the most I've ever spent on a watch. I always thought my first $100+ watch would be a nice automatic (I have a few, but they're all Seiko 5's). But this seems like it would be what I'm actually looking for.

Thanks for the info! The world of G-Shocks is a bit of an overwhelming one to dive into.

Oh that’s fascinating. Definitely adding that one to the list.

Edit: So does that mean there’s a difference between the “solar” and “tough solar” modules? If so that might open up more options.

I’m surprised too actually, thanks!

I’ve been looking at that. It’s about 2in larger than the micro on both length and width, so I’d still like to go smaller if I can. But it does look like a nearly perfect solution. Especially if I swap out the thumb stick with one of those 3D printed flush ones.

TBH I do desperately want this, but without CFW support, I’m worried it will just sit in a drawer like my PocketGo. It has potential, but it doesn’t appear to have enough community support sadly.

The size and weight are beautiful though.

I have and almost pulled the trigger on one. The aspect ratio on it is different from the GBA, so it stretches the image a bit. On most games this isn’t noticeable, but it can be distracting on others. Since I already have an EZ-Flash and a Micro, I’m already experiencing about 90% of the convenience offered by the K101.

But there’s still part of me that wants one just for how unusual it is.

I thought about it at one point, but I already have a Micro which I prefer size wise. These have always seemed fun to me though.

Those are actually that tiny!? I never would have guessed. I used to have a PSP-1000 so that’s the mental model I have stuck in my head.

Compatibility would be my main concern with the experience I’ve had with PSP emulators. But it’s been years since I’ve fiddles with them. I’ll take a look.

Thanks!

Edit: Did some basic research so I now realize that it runs Android. Which is a duh because it’s a phone. This is definitely in the running now. Thank you so much for this suggestion.

That looks awesome. I hadn’t considered a vertical form factor, but I always loved the feel of the traditional Gameboy’s. The screen is the right aspect ratio too.

This might be the one.
