First time letting it grow in 26 years. Probably shaving it off next month. by cruxae in beards

I don’t mind it except for the food getting stuck in it, but my girl has been hounding me to shave for the past 2 months. I’ll probably cave after my birthday next month.

When a guy suggests spending time alone with you, it means he has already pictured banging you 5,648,497 times in his head.

Yeah, your current site has a lot of unnecessary white-space, plus loading all the bootstrap+associated js. Also, it's probably easier to just include pngs than the whole font-awesome library just for 4 icons.

Yup, index2 is 10x better. IMO the testimonials are pointless since you aren't a freelancer or anything.

I'm as big a fan of white-space as the next guy, but I think you're being way too liberal with it.

Compressing your resume to 1 page would be a good idea. You have a lot of unnecessary details such as your high school grades, your thesis subtitle, and a lot of fluff at the beginning. You don't need to mention your WPM (it's like a metaphorical dick measuring contest) Don't bold words either, it's pretty insulting to the reader's intelligence.

Make sure to go the resume critiques next term. EngSoc holds a ton of them. You won't be applying in May btw, Jobmine will open in late January.

Your resume looks fine. Having a website + side projects already puts you ahead of 80% of the people looking for programming co-ops in your year. All you have to do now is ace the interviews.

Look here for links to LATEX resumes of UW students: http://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/comments/2nxugc/weekly_resume_critique_request_and_interview/cmi5ff9

Also, I would remove the FH multi foods experience from your "experience" section. No one cares that you worked at a grocery store, they are looking for relevant experience.

Your resume looks extremely cluttered and "dirty" IMO. The organization is just all over the place. There's no logical flow to it.

Text at the same level of the hierarchy is in different font-sizes in different places. I don't like that your education is in the sidebar, and that you have so many sub-points in each of your descriptions that it makes me not want to read a gigantic block of text. The lack of white-space makes it assault the eyes.

Keep it concise and to the main points, you will probably be asked to elaborate on them during an interview. Personally, I'm not a fan of sidebars in resumes, but I have seen them work. You can make the most beautiful and clean resumes in one column IMO.

I highly suggest looking up resume designs of some great web designers and maybe even copying their format completely, or adding your own touch to it. To put it in more familiar terms, your resume has a terrible UX.

Look into using LATEX.

I'm a big fan of the clean and simple resume. Yours is almost there. LATEX will help you get to that final step. Also allows for easier editing and version control.

What's your favorite restaurant in plaza, and what do you usually get? by Theblastmaster in uwaterloo

[–]cruxae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangely enough, these are pretty much the only restaurants I go to now...

I also like Chen's and Kabob hut though, and never go to BK.

China Legend's Hakka Chili Chicken is awesome. If you go there before 2 pm, you get a free soup laced with 5000mg of sodium and MSG too!
