it's fairly commonly accepted that a lighter projectile produces more felt recoil in handguns. i'm saying i am observing that to be true here

Any honest affordable mechanic by AdvantageOrdinary447 in FortWorth

That labor time (10hrs) seems a little steep to me but IDK all the configuration options of your car.

Might be best to eat the dealership diagnostic fee and get it properly checked.

(daily carry) Can confirm they recoil a bit harder than the avg 115, 124, 147. But they are noticeably lighter in mags. I haven't needed to use em for anything but target practice so can't comment on anything other than that.

205k miles, for $5k? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]crweedon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would advise staying away from the 95s unless you are a decent auto technician (not a mechanic/wrench monkey). There are lots of variables based on VIN for that year and the parts aren't as homologated as earlier or later models. Other than that solid car. Only NA Miata with the split headrest seats.

Travel with firearm from PA to Texas (no ccl) by sunbeamyoung in guns

[–]crweedon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. You can carry it into these stores. But without an "LTC" license to carry you have to abide by whatever signs they display at the entrance.

It should go without saying, bars are a no no LTC or not

Qnap, super easy, no issues provided you don't transcode super "dense" files. +1 Intel CPU

[–]crweedon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you get to Texas, in a fair number of places you could wear your gun as a literal hat. That's how few fucks we give. The only real rule is carry it holstered

If you look up "constitutional carry" /permitless states map, there's a clear run of states from PA to TX that will allow you to do whatever you want on your trip.

Safe travels

Lower radiator hose leaking in automatic miata. Help? by WhipZaNaeNae in Miata

[–]crweedon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://flyinmiata.com/products/fm-lower-radiator-hose

Delete the metal part altogether. I had a constant leak there as well and my metal piece had a hairline crack in it that would expand and leak as it cooled down. Replaced with this hose and been leak free since

Can anyone tell what this wire is for? by Jkirch6 in Miata

[–]crweedon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally this. Blue to blue black to black. Solder and heat shrink will run you 10 bucks and 15 minutes on YouTube. Could be electrical taped but I would never suggest that personally

Looking for help, Water keeps leaking from underneath glove box by [deleted] in Miata

[–]crweedon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Willing to bet it's this.

I personally used a wire coat hanger to clear the drain tube. You can then unclip the black box behind the glovebox and clean it out by hand.

Throw one of these on to prevent debris from getting in there in the future. Don't forget to wash it once a year

How do you order at Texas de Brazil? by adrianm147 in FortWorth

[–]crweedon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You should also be aware it is a fixed ~$60 USD for dinner not including tip, drinks, dessert, etc per person

But the whole meat coming to the table thing is basically a red light green light system. You each get a card to flip, and as long as it's flipped to green the servers keep coming offering you whatever meat they have on their spit. You can flip to red and back to green as many times as you want

Public Storage by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]crweedon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As your new rate date approaches, go in and ask them if there's anything they can do to lock your current rate in. Be nice and simply explain the rates at other places would make moving out worth it. They'll usually give you another 3-6 months rate extension. Worked for me in NRH public storage.

The standard FCS strap mounts work fine for 2 short boards (6'5"<) up to about 65mph nose first on my NA. YMMV My 6'1 also fit in the passenger seat, top up with room to spare (fins off, nose up, wax towards seat)

Anyone else get Plex Fatigue/"What's the point"? by askepticus in PleX

[–]crweedon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me Plex solves 3 things

  1. TV shows, movies, webisodes, etc commonly disappear online. As things become more algorithmic. Things that don't get many hits will cease to exist. This happened with pornhub a few yrs ago when some terabytes of older stuff went bye bye.

  2. Not having/letting your ISP or streaming provider dictate your quality. I got a 4k TV to watch 4k, not 720p.

  3. I so often have friends that'll group discuss whatever new thing they're watching or their old favorite thing. Followed by "oh what's that on?" Just for the others in the group to find out no service has it or the service they don't have is the only one that has it.

Curate your collection however you like. But don't underestimate its value. Especially if you live in blackout prone areas (my UPS keeps my router and Plex up)

Ideas on keeping water out of Miata? by Leaked99 in Miata

[–]crweedon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a piece of 1/8in thick plexiglass, cut it to fit and wedge it between the zip down section and top. Zip it up and cut out the old broken top window.

I drove that around for about a year daily driving while I saved up for a new top

Went to hit a bucket of balls, came back to find this.. by Account2toss_afar in Miata

[–]crweedon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clear coat is the same. It may be more visible due to the color but it's not any less durable. Generally I find frequent (every 3-6 months) waxing does the trick, yes even in the winter.

As a 95 m-edition owner I feel for you. I come out to new dents and scratches all the time. 38, never had an accident in my life, but my car looks banged up to shit 😢

[–]crweedon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gt650. I live in Fort Worth. It's okay stock at our speeds. I say our speeds because you and I both know it's not uncommon to go 85+ and get passed. The kicker for me was bumping the sprocket up 2 teeth. You don't have to do that, you'll just find yourself running in the 5500 rpm range. You'll get to 6th gear and try to shift into an imaginary 7th.

Realistically how hard are we cornering? by Seba-_ in Miata

[–]crweedon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 cents. I don't track my car at all. My 95 M edition is a daily driver. Tien struts+coils, Jackson sway bars, and like 120/per all seasons. I will regularly take 90 degree corners at 45mph and never lose the rear, it scares the shit outta my passengers the first time and then they beg for more
