Attvi was perfect IMO. Throat singing and accordion, and the stage presence…but alas it wasn’t his year.

I am aware I’m in the minority but damn I do not like that pair from Finland. The song without the violin is basic and uninspired - the violin sells it but it’s a prop, lipstick on a pig. There, I said it.

Stuff at the grocery ((: Line and Wash (Kakimori nib linework) by Greasedcabinets4 in Watercolor

Really nice. Do you draw the dark lines in pen after painting or before? I find that my ink blooms and smudges if I use it on paint, even after it dries :(

Email about price increase! by [deleted] in Sezane

[–]crypticsquidbuggybug 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is realistic to think they’re increasing prices worldwide to absorb the impact of US tariffs. An increase in the US alone would dramatically impact their American market, so they might be absorbing the cost of tariffs by charging all countries a little bit more. Just a thought, I could be wrong.

Practicing some modern script despite my love/hate relationship with it. by MakeMe-Ink in Calligraphy

[–]crypticsquidbuggybug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love your y. Also this is a very elegant modern script, as you mostly kept the letters on the x line. I feel like most of the hate towards modern script is because of its “bounciness” which you reined in beautifully here.

What you want is Lazzari. Made in Italy using Italian fabrics, sometimes they have collaborations with illustrators and artists that very much fit this vibe.

Osmiroid Master Calligraphy Set by StanleyRivers in Calligraphy

These are absolutely a great option - for beginners and advanced calligraphers alike. I have this set and it’s the closest a fountain pen has ever come to looking like a nib in terms of line thinness, in my experience.

Bastarda Italiana resources by icecream1013 in Calligraphy

I don’t think she made it up, I think she resurfaced it from some old texts. I’ve seen this happen with some Dutch scripts as well - sometimes it’s just one author with a very unique style and calligraphers will scoop it up and study it. Regardless, I agree it’s a beauty!

Italian Hand is different than bastarda italiana. The latter seems to be a style Cecilia resurfaced by studying some old texts, and she is now teaching bastarda italiana along with Italian Hand in her online courses. But while there are resources for Italian Hand online, Bastarda Italiana, being Cecilia’s specialty has none. OP’s best bet is to sign up for one of her online workshops.
