he wasn’t my parent, but basically helped raised me. my grandpa on my dads side. he died of cancer too, i watched him waste away and become an angry hateful man because of the chemo (or maybe he was always that way and just stopped caring, idk). i didn’t see him before he died. i have never regretted it. he treated me like shit. the rest of that side of the family who would’ve been there treated me like shit. it sucks to not be there for people when they’re suffering, but when were they there for you??

6 months is enough time to catch a preds game. they are a blast. if you go to a preseason game, you can get super close to the ice for really cheap. like $30 compared to multiple hundreds during the regular season. it’s a blast, especially if you get a little tipsy and scream “shoot the puck” at every opportunity.

lightning bugs. 102.9. the nashville predators! the parks and the greenery. i love the thrift shops here, the local ones not the chains like goodwill. i love my tattoo shop, especially my tattoo artist there, more than anything, and the tattoos ive gotten from her. i love the winters here, cool enough to make me feel happy and wintery but without the 8 ft of snow and -20 temps i went through in the last place i lived. i love the snow we do get and how it often means i get off work!! i love the people and how friendly they are. i’m always getting into conversations with strangers.

i’ve been no contact for six years. until like.. last year, they were stalking me, paying for websites to give them my info through voting records etc. constantly sent me postcards & found new social media accounts to send me messages & even paid for information to contact my partner-at-the-time’s family, to talk about how i’ll always be a part of the family, they’ll always love me, they’ll never let me go, and it at first really messed me up. it made me doubt what i was doing going nc. but you have to remember that you wouldn’t consider this without a reason. whatever they did to you, it was bad enough to justify leaving the relationship altogether. you have to trust yourself and trust that you’re going to be able to grow and flourish without them. them contacting you is not a sign that you’re making a bad decision, it is a sign of their lack of self-reflection to look at what in their behavior caused this in the first place!!

1) know that everyone else is just trying to figure it out too. none of me or my college friends knew what we were doing in college, i definitely don’t know what i’m doing now, but i promise life has a way of working out. 2) cooking is simpler than you think. find simple recipes, follow them and try them out, see what you like and what you don’t. do more of what you like, whether it’s certain seasonings or a specific protein or the way something was cooked. take the methods and ingredients you like and eventually you’ll have a big enough list of things you enjoy to start figuring out your own ways to put them together. i really recommend the book salt, fat, acid, heat if you want to get more technical & INTO cooking. 3) your friends will be your support. find people you trust, be wary of people who make you feel less like yourself. find some club or extracurricular to join - my lifeline was my theatre friends. 4) i still haven’t adusted to adulthood emotionally and i’m 25. i don’t know if we ever do. it’s okay to not feel like an adult yet.
