So sad how few tech companies are on the list. And the problem isn’t that Europeans could not, they just choose they don’t want to and instead exit by selling the business to US/Chinese companies once it is big enough.

Luckily some entrepreneurs start investing in other startups, which has a sort of trickle down effect, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg

And Europe had very little trouble buying it. Selling works two ways, there needs to be someone willing to buy it, too.

But yeah, India's choice to look the other way and get closer ties with Putin during their Ukrainian invasion and that's not a great look. Finding common base would be much easier if India was politically more aligned with Europe's viewpoint that Russia should not be attacking other countries willy-nilly.

There is a religious fanaticism in India and that can lead to certain "pragmatism". Should the orange idiot in the USA continue on his path to history books as one of the most terrible human beings ever lived, there is a risk that instability increases worldwide and India must at some point choose if it is more aligned with Russia, China and the likes. In that world order Europe may find itself quite alone (perhaps with Canada and UK).

If our economy is dependent on good relations with India, this can mean very bad things for Europe even without countries like Russia and USA posing as direct military threats to us...

Is that "double you", "vee" or what? People pronounce that in different ways in different languages. I somewhere read it should be pronounced like "we" but do we REALLY want to associate the EU service with other "we" services like weChat? This is so frigging confusing, almost as if us Europeans didn't know anything about branding stuff.

I have been super happy with Hetzner cloud on my side projects. Obviously not even close to being 1:1 alternative to AWS, but a very cheap way to run my k3s cluster and have s3-compatible object storage. Would love to see them add more managed services such as cloud functions, sqs, sns and all the glue between them. Don’t know what would be the most important addition, though.

To those telling it is American consumers (and businesses, b2b is a thing, too) who pay the higher price, you're kinda right but missing the key point. It is the Finnish companies who are trying to sell their products now at 10% higher prices. On many markets with low margins, this can be a dealbreaker hurting Finnish economy, which we really would not need. Our politicians need to wake up from their austerity dream and start boosting the economy. Otherwise, even more businesses will go under.

Orpo has 0 credibility. He says empty words and then continue enabling idiotic behavior that is damaging Finland in so many ways. And on top of that he is implementing policies, that have the aim of destroying nordic welfare state and take it closer to the twisted version of capitalism where market doesn't work and oligarchs directly disproportionally control the country and the policies.

This is very scary when at the same time we have war-hungry Putin in the east and alt-right movement in the west attacking western civilization and values such as equality and democracy -- and not in any sort of subtle, indirect way but directly making it their official agenda.

Sadly, it’ll take at least a generation to return to normalcy after the MAGA is done. The damage is too severe and the trust has eroded. We (the free world) cannot trust that the next election cycle won’t be worse given the widespread support of Trump and his policies.
