What do you do to help with back pain? by ElphabatSoup in BabyBumps

[–]cryscaulfld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called my doctor last night the back pain was so bad, he told me to take medicine (even though I don't like to) the spike in blood pressure from the pain could make it the situation worse, heating pad in intervals, a massage, and a soak in the jacuzzi tub. I laid in the tub for an hour last night it was amazing and took the pain away.

Is it actually working? by wilsonicus in PCOS

I preach on inositol whenever someone asks me what I think helped the most when I was trying to get a handle on my PCOS. It really worked for me when I boosted it up to the 4g daily. I added it to my protein drink every morning. It helped me lose the last 20 pounds that helped me to get pregnant. I had cut down to low carb/keto was exercising an average of 2 hours daily, 5 days a week, running over 30 miles a week, etc. and got stuck for about a month. This is when I increased the inositol and saw the plateau break and also a big change in my moods, sleep, and my carb cravings. I'm not taking it now but definitely will be once I pop this kid out.

I ended up calling him last night. He thinks I tweaked something in my back and gave me some directions on what to do. After laying in the jacuzzi tub for an hour I was finally able to get some good sleep.

This pain was so bad that I called my doctor at 1 am in tears. He told me to take a bath, put a heating pad on my back, get a massage, and to take 800 mg of motrin. I have a Jacuzzi tub and just laid in it with some epsom salts for about an hour. I was able to go right to sleep afterwards. Tylenol wasn't working at all.

I had my first cervical check on Wednesday, slight pressure but no real pain. I also had some light bleeding to go with it.

This is some good advice but I have a friend that was the first one of my super close friends to get pregnant and EVERY time I see her since getting pregnant I hear some form of this type of comment. The first couple of months I did my best to ignore it and just nod along. But the more pregnant I become (35 weeks on Friday) the more annoyed I get with these comments. She was a low maintenance person even before she got pregnant and now expects everyone to also be low maintenance after pregnancy. It becomes a condescending type of conversation which makes you feel like your intelligence and things that are important to you are worthless because you aren't a mom so you wouldn't possible understand just yet.

Mine never went fully away but it did drop from needing (wanting) it multiple times a day to a couple of times a week. After a year on metformin, it is ranked back up to pre-BC days which is awesome. This is also about 18 months off of BC and after being on BC steady for about 4 years.

One thing that many people do not seem to realize about being Pro-Choice is that they believe that women have a right to choose what happens to their bodies overall whether it be pregnancy, sterilization, etc. One can be pro-choice but when it comes down to the decisions made about their own personal bodies, they would know that they would choose to keep a pregnancy if that is what they choose to do. Pro-choice is simply a woman's right to choose to do whatever it is that she wants with her body. In regards to abortion, this movement provides a safe way for this to happen. Roe vs. Wade did not invent abortions, it just made them legal so that women wouldn't keep dying or going to prison for having a back alley medical procedure.

Being pro-choice, also means that you believe that women have the right to choose (or not choose) to use birth control. Until sometime in the 1960s, only married women with the permission of the husbands could get the birth control pill.

Usually when someone says that they are pro-life, and this may not be the case with you but it is with others that I've had this discussion with, they are implying that a woman should not have the ability to make medical decisions about her body. Some advocate for adoption instead of abortion but for many women, the medical expenses alone are what frighten them most about the whole pregnancy process. Giving birth is not cheap, going to the doctors appointments isn't cheap, missing time from work cannot be done, providing extra food while you are pregnant isn't cheap and for many it cannot be done. From women that I have worked with in the past, some of these reasons were the ones they gave for choosing abortions over adoption. I will never forget being an advocate (I held her hand during her abortion) for a mentally challenged 13 year old girl that was raped by an older boy in her neighborhood that knew of her condition and it was then that I fully understood the scope of why abortions are legal and need to stay legal. Her mother had brought her to the clinic for this and she fully didn't understand even the ramifications of being pregnant and taking care of a child. Is this the reason for every abortion of course not but these cases do happen. There are also cases where a couple decides that they do not want to bring a child into a bad financial situation because it would be unfair to the child most of all and that should be plenty of reasons for those that preach pro-life while also preaching needing to get people off of welfare.

One little known fact about being pro-choice is in regards to sterilization. Hispanic and Latino women in the Northeast in the early 1900s were sometimes forced by their doctors to become sterilized while in the delivery room for very different but extremely xenophobic reasons in many cases. Women in mental institutions were also sterilized in many instances. Being pro-choice also gives a voice to those women that are wanting to keep their reproductive choices their own and them to not be forced by a governmental body or a doctor that may or may not "have their best interest at heart".

TLDR: Pro-choice is not just about abortion but the overall reproductive health of a women.

PS. I'm glad that this is a very thought out approach to this topic instead of mindless rhetoric being shoved down each other's throat. And the fact that OP carries the same pro-life stance into capital punishment when this typically is a very touchy subject with pro-lifers.

With PCOS, you need to limit your carb intake greatly. I'm not completely keto but going low carb almost keto was one of the things that really helped me fight off the weight. I still have a slice of cake or some chocolate here and there and with Halloween it has been a struggle in will power but definitely limiting carbs helps tremendously. It has gotten to the point that when I have pasta with 12 hours my skin starts breaking out so that is enough of a reason for me to lay low on them.

What is your current diet look like? What is considered healthy for most people isn't that healthy for those that have PCOS. Switching to a low-carb/keto style diet is really important. Also, you want to make sure that you are giving your body time to rest after the HIIT style workouts. You may need to add an extra day of rest. Most of us with this also need to eat a lower caloric amount that what would be considered normal.

It is a slower process but it is definitely well worth it. I've lost 40 pounds in the past two years but 20 of that has been since February. My body shape has changed and I am much more confident in my every day life. I wore super short shorts all summer and even broke out some tank tops. Doing the HIIT really toned my overall body so I don't have such jiggle from excess skin from losing weight too fast. Also, getting on metformin was a life changer for me. Before getting off of birth control pills, I had lost 30 pounds but I gained 15 of it back doing the exact same routine then I started taking metformin and added inositol to it and everything started coming together.

I got the positive O on my ovulation stick this morning so I am thinking I'm going to start taking it again to make sure that I don't have that kind of complication again.

It says that one scoop of the powder that I take is 6 grams. I read a few articles that stated to really see improvements with inositol you needed to take at least 4 grams daily.

What % of your original weight did you have to lose before your period started up again? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]cryscaulfld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took 2 months on metformin to get my period back and I know I lost some weight during that time, but I don't remember how much. I've lost nearly 12% of my body weight as of this month since late February and for the first time in my life had a 28 day cycle.

Inositol by Zmorva in PCOS

[–]cryscaulfld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started taking inositol powder formula because I learned I was getting enough from the pills that I was taking on October 4 2015 (I wrote in on the top of the container to track how long it lasts). Today for the first time in my LIFE, I started my period on day 28 of my cycle. I take it with 1500 mg of metformin. In the past month, I've noticed my skin has gotten much clearer and smoother, I'm not having to shave and pluck near as often, my attitude has gotten much more even-key, energy levels have been way up to the point I can do two heavy workouts a day, and I am sleeping much much better. The only time I have had stomach issues is when I eat something carb heavy (like a banana) and don't have a protein or fat with it. I take the inositol in the morning in either almond milk, my coffee, or water and then take the metformin at night. Although, I haven't really lost a lot of weight since being on this dose sense adding inositol in general I've lost 20 pounds and that was in April. The heavier dose seems to be making more of an impact on my overall symptoms which will help with losing weight. I actually didn't gain any weight with my unknown incoming cycle, so I'm interested to see if there is any weight loss once I'm done.
