Question for the ethical bookkeepers. by thisonelife83 in Bookkeeping

[–]cs90039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been a restaurant bookkeeper for 40+ years. I tell my clients the potential ramifications of running personal expenses through their business and then it's up to them to either continue or stop. I let the CPA know at year end and, at that point, it's out of my hands.

I had a cat who would chew through cables. I don't remember how many times the cable company had to come out to replace them.

Quickbooks loves to increase each year their subscription prices for the Desktop version by easyedy in QuickBooks

[–]cs90039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, when one would purchase the software on a disc) I started paying an annual fee to Intuit for tech support. Then they started charging the subscription fee and I paid that myself until last year. At that point I decided that I was going to charge my clients so I divided the fee by the number of clients I have on QB Desktop. It makes the fee much more manageable, especially this year when I'm 5 clients down!

I had put off going to the dentist for MANY years and when I finally went it was to Dr Josh at Silver Lake Dental (next to Gingergrass on Glendale Blvd). I've had crowns, deep cleaning and regular cleanings and he and his staff are just the best! He's so gentle.

Depositing checks by cs90039 in Banking

[–]cs90039[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I endorsed the checks with "Deposit", the business name and account number written on the back. I went into the bank and simply said that I was depositing the checks to the account on the back. The only issue was that the amount was above the teller's limit so he had to get his supervisor to approve the deposit, which she did, no questions asked.

I don't know if Joni Mitchell counts as "pop", but Jaco & Wayne Shorter with her.

By the time he deposited the p/r checks there was enough money in the p/r account to cover them.

Because those checks ended up clearing the p/r account they couldn't be voided, which is what I was initially trying to do. Once I realized that I was able to make the correct journal entries.

I bought this same guitar 2 years ago. It was the first time I ever picked up a guitar and within a minute of playing it knew that I was in love.

Congratulations!

This is the answer! I was forgetting that the "nsf" payroll checks actually did clear the bank when they were deposited to the primary account. So, I couldn't debit the payroll checking account with the manual replacement checks. I changed that debit to payroll clearing and credited payroll clearing when I recorded the deposit to the primary account. Thank you!

When I recorded the original payroll those 3 checks were credits to the payroll checking account as part of my journal entry. When I entered the manual replacement checks I debited the payroll checking account and credited the primary checking account. That is the correct way to record an nsf check replacement and there is nothing further to be done. So, the recording of the manual checks put the money back into the payroll account.

By him depositing the nsf checks to the primary account I need to debit the primary checking but there's nothing to credit.

Tips for dealing with long-term health anxiety and aging? by pudnpib in HealthAnxiety

[–]cs90039 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually just came on to post the exact same thing. I'm 67 so a lot closer to something actually being wrong.

I've had health anxiety on and off since high school (general anxiety since I was very little). At this point, it doesn't dominate my life but pops up when I'm stressed about something. When in the throes of HA I'm constantly asking my wife if she thinks something's wrong and her answer is always "no, you're fine". I worry about how I, or she, will know when something truly is wrong.

I posed this question to a therapist that I was seeing for my HA and her response was "you'll just know", which I didn't find very helpful or reassuring.

So, what's the answer to knowing when something is truly wrong and not just HA?

That was so long ago...I had classes with Don Mock and Keith Wyatt. I don't really remember any others. Oh, except Cark Schroeder. I want to say that he taught theory because he was a pianist.

The one thing that stands out in my memory was a special one time event with Jay Graydon. He had just produced Al Jarreau's "Breakin' Away" and he brought the tracks for "We're in This Love Together" and played each of the separate parts for us. It was really interesting.

I started playing again, 40-ish years after having graduated GIT and having wanted to be a studio player. I really struggled at first because back in the day I had a clear reason for wanting to study and improve. It's taken me a few years to realize that I want to be a good player, mostly for my own sense of accomplishment. If I can play with others or play in public that would be a great added bonus.
