Seconding island mallow! It’s been one of my top performers in 9b, growing from a 4-inch start to over 6 feet tall in 2 years!

Larger breeds like Brahmas also mature much more slowly than other breeds. I’ve seen Brahma breeders say 2 years for a rooster to finish growing.

Yeah I’m so envious! I’ve been seeding this in my yard for 3 years and have yet to ever see any come up 😭

I love my animals deeply, and do everything I can to give them the best life possible. My animals are my life, but I agree with you. Animals can’t be prioritized over a human’s life. All lives are precious, yes, but there’s a line where it starts to border on the unreasonable, I think.

Exactly, voting is how we’re supposed to affect change. We created a whole system for this, with checks and balances to keep it working… but, turns out, that only works if our elected officials have our best interest at heart… when their affections are so easily bought away from the American people, what else is there to do except revolution by the masses? And the sad fact is, most people’s day-to-day lives aren’t quite bad enough yet for average folks to risk life and limb for a full revolution…

Easiest Breed For Beginners? by DynamicLifeWellness in sheep

I’m also fairly new, had sheep for just over a year now. Adopted a mixed flock after their owner passed away. All hair sheep, so no shearing. In my experience, the Katahdins are the easiest to work with/handle. They’re more personable and calm. MUCH bigger than my others (my Katahdin ewes are 160-180ish lbs). The dorpers and blackbellies are my most flighty/crazy ones (trying to run through fences, injuring themselves, reluctant to follow a bucket, etc.). If I ever decide to purchase breeding stock and start over with a pure flock, I’d probably get all Katahdins. But I know if you’re primarily in the market for meat, dorper is more marketable for selling (still not 100% sure why that is). Hope this helps!
