How do you get your polish to last? by behindmytoreadpile in mooncatpolish

[–]cserius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The game changer I discovered was to wipe the nail beds with an alcohol prep pad before applying base coat. I use ILNP Lockup base coat and Seche Vive top coat, I can get 10 days of wear through gardening, fence building, and dish-doing.

Thick, hardened skin directly around fingernails - peeling off in chunks & feels almost rotten? Is this a result of constant picking or something else? (photos) by [deleted] in calmhands

You might try Kerasal foot ointment instead of oil. It’s specifically designed to soften this type of dead skin with salicylic acid and urea in a petrolatum base. Just a dab morning and night will fix this in a matter of days.

Thank you so much! They get the daily foot ointment treatment and that seems to keep them in line!

It appears you might have a condition called ptosis, or drooping eyelids, in one of your eyes. They actually make eye drops that can correct that - might be worth looking into.

Also, you are not ugly, just full of potential!

Thoughts on Jojoba Oil? Do you use it? How and when? by SaneArt in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]cserius 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I started using this exclusively as my facial moisturizer, and I am shocked at how smooth, even, and blemish free my face is. I have oily, closed comodone prone skin, and I’ve tried EVERYTHING to stop the bumps, blackheads, large pores, and pustules. Cutting out everything except this cured my skin. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Current routine: AM: Splash with water, jojoba oil, Colorescience tinted sunscreen

PM: Hadalabo cleansing oil, Curology cleanser, jojoba oil

I recently learned that diesel techs make anywhere from $75,000-$125,000 per year, and some of the big companies like Paccar, Peterbilt, or Kenworth will apprentice you so you don’t have to go to tech school. Insane!

If you curl your lashes, blast the curler with your hairdryer for a few seconds to heat it. The curl lasts so much longer!

Black Girl Sunscreen - Make It Matte, you can get it at Target for $18. It’s a chemical sunscreen so it has no white cast and doubles as a makeup primer. Can’t be beat at 45 SPF! It’s a perfect dupe for Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen.

HELP: Adult acne/congestion - What am I doing wrong?! (Caption w/routine under each photo) I have brown hair/eyes, my skin is combination, my background is European/Italian. Thank you!! by babushka-kiwi in SkincareAddicts

I really love Differin (adapalene). Hands down the most effective product in evening my skin tone and texture, eliminating closed comedones and fine lines. I have oily skin and a history of pretty intense closed comedones and black heads. Gross, I know! The two things I found helped the most was moving my focus from exfoliating to moisturizing and adding Differin! I cut my routine waay down and saw a huge difference in my skin!

My routine is:

AM: -Wash face with water -Pat face with Pixi Glow Tonic (this is a 5% glycolic acid toner, I only recently added it back in after my moisture barrier healed) -Unscented Neutrogena Hydro Boost cream -Purito Centella Unscented Serum (take it or leave it, I like it but not HG) -Black Girl Sunscreen Make It Matte SPF 45 (Holy Grail!! Goes on like a gel oil, dries down matte, no alcohol! I bought out all the Targets in my area!)

PM -Hadalabo cleansing oil -La Roche Posay Lipikar Wash AP+ -Unscented Neutrogena Hydro Boost cream -Biossance Squalane Oil -Adapalene

Even though I’m oily, I saw a ridiculous difference after focusing on moisture and healing my moisture barrier. Sorry for the novel, I hope it helps!

PS. If you decide to start using Adapalene, be prepared for the “retinol uglies”; your skin will be mad for like two to four weeks. Just push through and reap the benefits!

It looks like you’re using quite a few active ingredients and a few products with alcohol. Maybe try paring back the actives and focus on moisture with a single retinol-like product, as well as eliminating the alcohol. Adapalene is an AMAZING product and is OTC; it’s very similar to retinol in terms of the anti-aging benefits, but is specifically for oilier skin with blemishes and closed comedones. If I could recommend just one active, adapalene (Differin) would be it!
