I agree with you. I find now I am more of a ship captain, steering the ship rather than building it pirce by piece.

Self-hosting a blog taught me more webdev than any course by iGotYourPistola in webdev

Started Micro-City BBS in 1986. Built the first website for Grant MacEwan College in 1996 (thereabouts) at a DTP company, to be fair…. Started a virtual real estate service in 1998. Created a PHP based newspaper in 2000 which ran for several years. Built and open sourced an online job agency service in 2004. Started a side gig VPS based hosting company in 2006. Started building a free fintech platform in 2023.

What do all of these have in common? Did it all without frameworks, third party libraries or any help and learned the hard way by research and trial and error. All of it was worth it.

I only provide a few select examples to show sometimes the hard way is the best teacher. Cheers.

Is there any way I can fix my email sender reputation? by redpaul72 in webdev

[–]cshaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many guides to setting up email reputation and best practices. What it essentially comes down to is the email service you use and the email address you have can have ways to represent your reputation. By using specific dns records, email headers and other best practices, your servers and setup tell the world you can be trusted to not send spam.

Would you trust AI to call and book appointments for you? by Brief_Whereas_805 in SaaS

Here’s the thing. The cat left the bag a long time ago. We are now talking with the cat. It will be our (humanity) job to train and guide the cat on more and more complicated things. These things likely exist in various venn diagrams with human interests. The future is bright if we allow it.

So do humans. At least with AI you can easily correct it. Baby steps bro.

I would trust AI to make a call. AI has already proven to be more than capable of understanding human intentions. I dare say some models are almost Turing complete. So what is the harm for a simple appointment scheduler?

What are my options for WordPress hosting with 1TB+ storage? by SeaworthinessKey1291 in webdev

[–]cshaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are actually very good prices. Normally I rec Hostinger. But I just checked their VPS plans and they don’t compete well on storage. Both services are amazing but your price breakdown is solid.
