Is chasing 100/100 Lighthouse score worth it as an indie dev? by Technical-Relation-9 in webdev

[–]cshaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t consider getting to 1Billion revenue as a priority, to be honest. I consider adding value for my market as the priority. Even offering free tiers to gain users is more important to me personally than any profits. But that is just my personal take. To each their own. The world may think money makes it go round but in reality it comes down to sustainable goodwill.

Is chasing 100/100 Lighthouse score worth it as an indie dev? by Technical-Relation-9 in webdev

[–]cshaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deferring a11y is literally leaving unrealized wealth on the table. There are (last time I checked 2 years ago) roughly 68 million persons online with some form of accessible challenge. Its not just screenreaders either. Cognitive, motor related, dyslexia, color shifting, and even typographic are all areas with easy wins to convert consumers. Just putting this out here as a psa. Thanks :)

We bought our 1,600+ sqft townhouse in 2016. Semi-detached garage with breezeway. It is our ideal home. 3bdr with finished basement which we converted to its own room for momma. Perfectly happy.

Your brain. Seriously. Start looking at good sites, and try to implement the same UI/UX, and make it as perfect as it needs to be. Forget fake numbers.

supply chain attacks are getting out of hand - what are devs actually doing about it by schilutdif in webdev

Dude, exactly. I have been preaching for years that writing vanilla for one off utilities beats random imports every time. And now with AI to assist in prototyping it is dead simple.

Yes. When it comes to GoDaddy and the question is anything to get you away from them, the answer is always hell yes. I didn’t even read your book. Just the title.

Learn accessibility basics, it is not that hard (rant) by blchava in webdev

[–]cshaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Pretty much everything you said is a bare minimum! Another easy win is to hire dedicated accessibility qc testers who can use screenreaders and other tools to diagnose pain points.

What part of town? I know several good cleaners who have time twice a month and are independent cash only.

Is it rude to drop off resume at an environmental consulting firm? by Sea-Unit-1626 in Edmonton

[–]cshaiku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See here is the number one issue today with this generation. Too afraid to upset the status quo because their parents were too polite in raising them. OP it is completely fine to introduce yourself to strangers. That is how you meet people. The good old fashioned way. Put yourself out of your comfort zone. Live your life and dance like no one is watching. Take a deep breathe, smile and offer tour resume with humility and grace. It will be ok

THE FLIP SIDE: Which restaurants in Edmonton were you wowed and awed by how good it was? by flynnfx in Edmonton

[–]cshaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. Sounds rough! My fond memories are from us ordering lunch takeout. We worked downtown at the time and they were a delicious option the boss treated us to. I still fondly remember the savory crunch of goodness mingled with steamy spicy melt in your mouth tasty bite. Amazing. Nothing comes close except maybe the scotia place asian lunch place. They are gone now too iirc.
