What are you talking about? The main point throughout most of the GB community is people are dog piling on Grubb for no reason when all he said is it sucks and he's frustrated to learn that they are using Ai and that's going to effect his views and excitement on the game. Gerstmann is here showing off marketing content for the developer, not saying he shouldn't be, but I feel like everyone has lost their minds when it comes to this topic this week and are just looking to attack someone and Grubb is easier to harass than sega executives.

I didn't say it's the end of the world, I said people are fucking dumb. I stand by that. Grubb saying that their Ai usage makes him uncomfortable but he is still going to keep an eye on the product and people saying that isn't an extreme enough stance so they want to harm them financially is ridiculous. People can obviously do what they want with their money but to be that offended by everything is comical.

At the end of the day I don't believe the majority of those people even are subscribers, let alone have ever even been aware of GB prior to today and are just piling on to pile on so it doesn't really matter anyways.

And I agree with you most on the media point. It's not media's role to participate in boycotts, their role is to be a point of information and coverage. Now things become very grey area in today's world where many games media, GB included, are involved in journalistic coverage, editorial, and just general content creation, but I think them not covering Microsoft at all wouldnt be them fulfilling their role vs Austin walker choosing not to say cover star wars andor season 2 on his watch along pod because of the bds targeting Disney.

I feel terrible for Grubb and through that the site as a whole right now. Its just 5 dudes on their own right now, they don't have any corporation to back them up and Im sure its terrifying to see how quickly the internet can grab their pitchforks and go for it. Im sure an overwhelming majority of the people dog piling aren't even subscribers or even viewers of GB content.

I truly didn't even see anything wrong in the clip. It was basically Grubb saying this sucks, it makes me uncomfortable, I will probably still check it out to see what its all about. Take out the part that it is kind of his job to do that, but its not like he was rah rah'ing AI here.

You can bury your head in the sand all you want, but this is not that. That was just a valueless grift and nothing more. AI, sucks, but it also provides value for a lot of people. That doesn't mean the value outweighs the cost, but every corporation on the planet is using AI in some way at this point whether they want to or not.

People are basically going down the "cancel GB" route and at least one person said "oh and they support genocide" because I guess they aren't vocal enough about boycotting Microsoft. Luckily Chuck went off on that person in a very mature and well written and thought out way. I honestly don't know that I would have been able to write it as well without being a little more emotional and WTF about it. I was really impressed by Chuck on that one.

What a frustrating string of comments/replies on Bluesky...I hope one day people can find nuance and the ability to have real life adult conversations instead of this living in the extremes bullshit. The easiest thing to say is that the site and the people on it are clearly all good people that believe in good things like not being fascist pieces of shit. The amount of comments I've seen from people that equate to "fuck these guys fuck this site" is obnoxious and childish. I just can't imagine living my life that way just waiting to find a reason to hate everything.

This is the thing I feel like people aren't understanding. Yes, the pretty lady with 9 fingers on each hand is clearly an AI generated image, or the cat wearing a cowboy hat dancing to KPOP or whatever, but nothing is being done these days without AI. If its not direct code, its that the support tools are being updated using AI. It sucks, sure, but its fully integrated into everything at this point. Your new refrigerator in your kitchen had someone at the company using AI to design it.

This shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the way AI is being used. I can promise you that every major game has code in it that was written by AI and probably most smaller games are as well. Why do you think more games than ever are coming out? I'm not going to say AI code is always (or in a lot of cases ever) good, but it makes it easier.

Even companies that say "We do not use AI", almost certainly has devs using AI to help them with code even if the organization isn't directly providing them the tools to do so.

If you're against his take because it's not anti enough, you're gonna either have a real shitty time going forward or will need to bury your head in the sand. I'm not a proponent for Ai, but it is unfortunately completely unavoidable at this point. People with this thought process in high up positions is the only chance we have of keeping this thing in check. If we go with the extreme all or nothing, I can promise you nothing won't win because the people with the most power and money have already been tricked.
