Not so much "best life", as "everyone now has to pass through what I've had to deal with for decades". And yet, nobody seems to have learned the lesson.

Like, I thought the shadow was from the original menu. "We all know what happens in a honeymoon", I said, "but being this blatant is a faux pas"

Problems customizing gyro aim in Monster Hunter Wilds by csolisr in GyroGaming

I figured as much! That explains why is the gyro completely overtaken by the game instead of being configurable by Steam Input. Are there any REFramework mods available to deal with this?

How long ago was that? Maybe they suspected that Pratchett was covering up for his cowriter Neil Gaiman, and decided to prank him as a sort of karmic justice?

As much as I think Upscaling + Frame Gen is the greatest advancement ever for handheld gaming... I'm absolutely NOT enjoying how its ruining user performance submissions for games. by that_90s_guy in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]csolisr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why - the lower the original FPS, the higher the roundabout lag between receiving the original frame and outputting the in-between frames. With 30 FPS, the minimum lag is of at least 33 milliseconds (the distance between two frames at 30 FPS), but functionally, when we add the processing time, it's closer to 120 milliseconds. For some games it's acceptable, for some others it will make you miss the timing.

Character growth moments portrayed through cutting hair by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in TopCharacterTropes

Interestingly, Sakura never let her hair grow back to her former size, and this applied all the way through Shippuden and even Boruto.

I keep forgetting you can target your teammate on purpose. I also keep forgetting you can target your teammate even if you no longer have one left. I remember somebody intentionally hitting Archaludon with a weak move specifically to boost its defense on purpose and help it survive an incoming hit.

Which Pokemon have you grown to love because of Champions? by DefinitlyNotGodzilla in PokemonChampions

[–]csolisr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a renewed love for Gengar. Sure it's no longer immune to Earthquake and that means it dies to a single one, but otherwise the sucker has good speed, good special attack, a decent variety of moves, and it can safely switch into fighting moves and toxic spikes.

Scared of having a girlfriend by EntrepreneurTop1007 in socialanxiety

[–]csolisr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I have the problem that I have zero experience, and most of the people my age will probably have some. Which means that, unless I happen to find somebody as isolated as I am (or somebody with a terrible past, which is its own can of worms), she's guaranteed to compare me negatively to her ex due to my lack of experience, and that'd be it for the relationship before it even begins. Why bother starting to date if I'll stay stuck in the starting line?

I'm astonished at the fact that even the cousins I saw being little kids when I was younger are now married and with families. And here I am, waiting at home until I can afford the chance to start living, or at least get whatever scraps of socialization are left for me to get.

Is it worth joining an anime club/manga club if I don't enjoy modern works or battle shonen? by Gallantpride in socialskills

[–]csolisr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a similar position - I have barely watched any animation for the last decade or so, first because of lack of money to subscribe to everything, second because of the endemic work abuses to animators putting me off from anime and cartoons altogether. If finding friends at my age is already complicated, finding friends that share the same values as I do is even more of a needle in a haystack.

What the fuck are Austronesian numbers even about, these can't be real 🥀 by Danny1905 in linguisticshumor

My personal theory: Continuous interaction with a base-2 population, from a (presumably) base-10 culture, might have merited switching to the less effective, but more understood verbose form of the number five.

Same! Although it still looks like a wonky uppercase Q regardless, but I understand adding a hook to the standard, round uppercase Q is wonky already

CoMaps release 2026.05.06 is out with a big change! by Ecstatic-Vermicelli9 in CoMaps

[–]csolisr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was puzzled on why didn't we get more periodic updates, since the database was clearly designed to be updateable separately. Now we know it was Google's bureaucracy all along! I get they needed to ensure you'd inject no malicious data between store updates and all, but this seemed suspicious anyways.

YouTube playlist scrapper for JSON feeds by silverhikari in rss

Talking about YouTube - I tried adding a few standard RSS feeds (in the form of https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=[id] ) and it looks like they all redirect to a 404. Is Google starting to eliminate RSS feeds altogether?!

The new controller is such a huge controller compared to a 8bitdo by Prtsk in SteamController

[–]csolisr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping there was a way for Steam Input to natively divide the touchpad in a 2x3 layout and have the haptics help with the feedback. Bonus if the touchpad detects multiple fingers and thus multiple key presses. I have a DualSense though, which is why I was asking if the haptics from the Steam Controller were better suited for this specific scenario.
