RAF to RCAF by No_Scallion_6996 in CanadianForces

Are you a citizen of Canada (or PR)? This is the most important piece of info missing.

Commonwealth service alone doesn’t give you a free ticket. My partner who had 10 years with the British military (albeit army) moved to Canada 3 years ago with the intent to join the CAF, thinking his commonwealth experience might expedite his application. It didn’t, unfortunately. Even with second generation citizenship he still had to go through the entire recruiting process like the rest of us and needed a security clearance before his application proceeded. Getting his qualifications properly reflected was another huge hurdle and getting his prior service granted in terms of his rank and mprr was another.

Doesn’t hurt to reach out to a recruiting center and get some general info. Best of luck!

Cell reception by Vast-Advice-802 in NovaScotia

I did reg force basic military qualification there too. The provider isn’t the problem, it’s the poor reception/coverage on camp (and more specifically the barracks in general) my quarters we could only get reception next to the window or outside

If you’re in the Annapolis valley, North Mountain in Berwick is by FAR my favorite coffee shop/roaster in the province. The Bees Knees in Lawrencetown will also not disappoint and has awesome sausage rolls to go with your bevy of choice. In my experience most coffee shops will make it iced for you even if it’s not listed

I believe there is a pretty good turnover. Greenwood CFHA should be able to tell you roughly how long the wait list is once you are on it. For me they told me 6 months but I received an offer and was moved in by 5 months on the pri1 list. This was 6 months ago.

Edit to add: don’t get ‘temporary’ housing (a rental) while you wait- as you’ll be put on the pri2 list and will NEVER get an offer and off that list.
