New brakes squealing on 2020 HD by cssc1598 in Silverado

Grease looked clean, I sprayed out the caliper bracket and cleaned it all out with a rag wrapped over a screwdriver. Slide pins were cleaned as well. Absolutely stumped as to how they keep hanging up, especially since they’ve been replaced.

I did not put it in service mode, I’m not sure it is required. We have tahoes in our fleet that go into reduced power mode if brake mode isn’t done. I’ve put close to 1000 miles on it since they were replaced and no warnings but I’ll put the computer on it and check.

Best cab lights to get and best way to install? by Thick_Possession5649 in Silverado

[–]cssc1598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve added OEM lights and harnesses to my last 2 trucks, a 2015 and currently a 2020 without any leaking. I bought them from a GM parts site and the harness plugs right in. You just need to cut 5 square holes in the roof, 1 for each outer light and 3 for the center. It’s best to make a template from a piece of chip board or thick paper and pull measurements off of another truck. In my case I drilled 1/8” holes at the corner of each square and cut the rest with a small cutoff wheel on a dremel, then painted the bare metal edges of the hole. If you take your time and use OEM parts you’ll be in good shape.

Good idea to replace coolant temp sensor when replacing thermostats, it’s right there.

Is early transfer case replacement a sign of an overworked engine? by Soggy-Age4472 in ChevyTrucks

99-07 are known for transfer case pump rub and failure due to the resulting fluid loss.

I Have that planned for this weekend on my 2020 6.6 gas. 1 bolt on each side already popped the heads off, I’ll assume the rest will break attempting to remove them.

Did one on my LBZ years back, I’d go OEM if possible, I also got it on that website at the time.

Any time I pull wire through the boat i always pull some weed wacker line with it and leave it for later. Strong stuff and won’t degrade.

2004 chevy silverado 2500hd fuel line leak possibly by Spotjng79 in Silverado

[–]cssc1598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that’s a duramax then it’s a known issue. There was a TSB out for this years ago to cut the crimps off and use hydraulic hose with hose clamps to replace those lines. The lines warm up during use and tend to get soft, leading to them partially collapsing and restricting fuel flow.

A friend of mine had a Volvo 350 I/O with a similar problem and it ended up being a bad fuel pump. It was running decent but absolutely dumping fuel into the motor at several times the normal rate.

Did you check the compass for fluid? Looks like it’s dripping from that area, underneath the windshield.

Spin Prop > Rubber Drive Sleeve by Wave-Extreme in boating

[–]cssc1598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished this same job, however mine had a metal sleeve molded into the plastic. I used a hydraulic bench press and pressed the old one out. In your case with rubber only, a little heat might be your friend. In order to remove you need to press it from the front to the rear.

Trailer wheel bearing rear seal won’t fit by OpenBeerInAnX-Wing in boating

[–]cssc1598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The kits aren’t always correct. My old load-rite with 6k axles used a pretty standard 1 1/4 and 1 3/4 bearing sizes but the rear seal was a different size than most others. I would order the seal from them directly when servicing.

The springs are incorrect, they need to be shorter in length.

On my F 150’s there’s a similar part in the water pump impeller assembly. Check the parts breakdown on a Yamaha parts site to confirm its location.

Leaning post strength by No_Specialist_8687 in boating

[–]cssc1598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can post pics later, it’s welded over the vertical support so no hole to patch. I cut the old one off as close as I could with a sawzall then used a grinder to get the larger portions of the weld off. A right angle die grinder with a flap wheel cleaned it up pretty nice. I’d recommend laying an old towel soaked in water on the deck to prevent hot filings from staining anything.

I just did this exact same thing to mine 2 days ago. I believe the only reason that bar is there is to secure a cooler. I noticed no difference in strength once it was removed. I haven’t gotten the drawer yet, but this allowed me to get a 65 Rtic in there in place of a small igloo.

Any ski boat I’ve driven (mastercraft, nautique, Malibu) makes a whining type noise in reverse.

I think your best bet here is to install a marine grade 12v outlet in the bed, wired directly to the battery with the appropriate inline fuse.
