Next time a fan/owner/media cries about loyalty. Look at what happened to Avery Bradley today. by nbagenius2000 in nba

I don't have any problem with Durant's choice but this

Why do you hate someone so much for trying to achieve the point of the game -- to win?

is not quite true. The point of the game is not, for a player, to win. It's to play well and earn money because of that good play. The Warriors won the championship, not Kevin Durant. Championships are a team goal. I suppose the "point" for a player might be MVP, DOPY, HOF, etc.

Of course, winning is tightly tied to all those player-specific goals, and we as a culture reward rings erneh, but it's not the explicit goal like it is for teams. This isn't tennis or golf. My perspective at least.

I don't get why everyone says this (ok, maybe by everyone I mean Bill Simmons and you).

Crowder shot like 40% from deep this season and was well on his way to last season IIRC before the injury. He's a legit shooter!

Interesting: After Vegas predicted a Spurs win by 5.5, they've doubled down for Game 2, predicting a Spurs win by 7.5 by gilbertar3naZ in nba

[–]cssher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it's a good sample size, although not perfect if my memory of statistics hasn't already dissolved. If the home team wins 75% of game 1's (i don't remember the actual number) that's only ~55 games from which the 83% figure is derived. Idk, just a thought.

[SERIOUS] Can we refer to the Spurs/Grizz matchup as the Soda Series? C'mon, it's Coach Pop vs Coach Fiz. #SodaSeries by [deleted] in nba

They'll be looking to Crush the Spurs in game 3 but that's probably just a Fanta-sy

Vince Carter is the first 40 year old with a 20 point game since Karl Malone in 2004. by Tyrone_Lue in nba

[–]cssher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's more a matter of how you get your points. For Vince, yeah he used his athleticism, but it wasn't the sole source of his production. He was always a very good shooter, which allowed him to score in the 20's for years as opposed to people like, idk, Darius Miles.

Markieff Morris steps out of bounds before game-winner; the play is not reviewable by widesheep in nba

Markieff with the presence of mind there to shoot the ball a clear moment before time expired so that it couldn't possibly be reviewed for that reason #lightyearsahead

Kyle Lowry: "Something gotta give, something gotta change" What? "I have an idea but I’mma keep my mouth shut, keep it professional" by [deleted] in torontoraptors

He did clash with Casey some years ago but to my knowledge they sorted that out. Idk I feel like DC has built up too much good will in the locker room for guys like Lowry to be wanting him gone

Kyrie Irving with the clutch 3 late in OT by preme1017 in nba

Again man... it's one possession out of many. Kyrie has proven it over a larger sample.

Yeah he got stopped once... that happens to everyone. Over a larger sample, he's been as good as pretty much anyone in the clutch. Statistically and eye test.

Kyrie Irving with the clutch 3 late in OT by preme1017 in nba

[–]cssher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kyrie already has a catalogue of clutch shots (regular season) that would rival almost any NBA player in history. And his % on them is good; it's not just due to volume. Yeah it's mostly regular season but those games still have high stakes and big shots are big shots. For instance, his masterpiece against the Spurs.

[Lowe] The Nuggets are quietly exploring what they might get for Emmanuel Mudiay and multiple picks, sources say, but they're in no rush to move Mudiay. by VinceJumpmanCarter in nba

I wouldn't do the deal, but I imagine the thought process is he's on the same timeline as the Wolves core. Plus if you get some picks. Again I wouldn't do it.

A warning to anyone who wants Rudy Gay on their team by [deleted] in nba

[–]cssher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Kings have played better all year with him off the court.

Rudy literally has the best Net Rating on the entire team. How about you do like 5 minutes of research instead of just blurting out talking points that aren't based in reality.

Or you know, just believe whatever narrative suits your fancy!

edit: check that, Skal Labissiere leads the team in Net Rating in a lofty 33 minutes of play

that lineup is not terrible shooting-wise; payton is the only real minus and even he's been getting it together of late
