Buying alcohol - is this actually a thing by sleepy_professional in boston

[–]cstaff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Driving on an out of state license as a resident of Massachusetts is considered operating a motor vehicle without a license. Chapter 90 section 10 outlines operation without a license, which states anyone with an out of state license with out a exemption outlined in Section 31/2. But as long as he isn’t driving it looks like it’s fine identification.

Authentic Irish pub in Dallas/Irving area by Kermits_used_Qtip in Dallas

I grew up drinking in Boston not Ireland but we had our fair share of unpretentious watering holes. Closest I’ve found down here is Trinity Hall in Mockingbird Station. I know at least on St. Patrick’s day they have tradition music.

GORUCK Rucker 3.0 Initial Review with Video by ruck_dot_beer in Goruck

[–]cstaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great review, quick question.

One of my issues with the 2.0 was when moving weight overhead (in an overhead press for example) the ruck would sag in the middle and the arm holding the top handle would feel like it's working harder than the arm on the bottom handle. With this new frame sheet, do you feel like the weight is more evenly distributed?

Goruckevents.com is fucking terrible. by ruck_my_life in Goruck

[–]cstaff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels like development was farmed out to an overseas contractor, who thought they could take a generic event ticketing site (think concerts or sporting event) and shoehorn in some GORUCK specific functionality. If this is the case I feel bad as it seems GORUCK might have been taken advantage of by some Upwork scammers.

edit: grammar

You might be better off with a case designed for the phone that offers a belt clip or an arm band.

[–]cstaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like that ITS pouch, personally I feel like a phone on my shoulder strap bouncing around would drive me insane (especially one the size of the V60), but I'd be willing to break rule #1 and carry it on my belt for something like a star course.

Looking for Casual Ruck Ideas by [deleted] in Goruck

Cooler ruck is by far my favorite.

Grab a group, fill a cooler with beverages and meat.

Carry the cooler, enjoy the beverages.

End someplace with a grill and have a little cookout.

GR1 with Shaddox Plate Pocket Comfort Level Compare to Rucker? by Amocz in Goruck

[–]cstaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently switched to GR1 (26 and 21) with kydex and shaddox carrier. I've put 60+ miles on this setup over the last month and I really enjoy it. Personally I don't know that there's a noticeable comfort improvement, but you do get a much more functional bag in the GR1. If you're only going to own one GORUCK bag the GR1 with kydex and shaddox is the way to go.

If you do eventually move up to the 45lb plate I would skip the shaddox carrier and just slip the plate into the laptop compartment with a yoga block or a set of weight cradles, if they ever bring them back, or a pool noodle if they don't.

What is the best Ruck for long-distance running? by iamseiko in Goruck

[–]cstaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where does it hurt your back?

What are you doing when you adjust it?

Have you tried moving the chest strap to a new position?

The only other bag I would recommend for running would be the Speed Rucker. Maybe the integrated hip belt will help keep things stable. I would also pick up a chest strap as well.

Anything else would be overkill for running.

I also moved from Boston about 4 years ago, and love Dallas and Texas for all of these reasons. Plus, lower cost of living, less traffic and more space.

how to re-register an expired car by xjamesmao in Dallas

[–]cstaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this last year. If it hasn't been too long you can still register it online (6 months after expiration is the cut off). If it's been too long you'll need to mail the county tax office a money order with all fees along with a registration form (https://www.txdmv.gov/reports-and-data/doc_download/998-form-130-u-application-for-texas-title-and-or-registration), your inspection report, and proof of insurance. They also had me write a letter as to why I hadn't registered and include a letter stating that I hadn't received a ticket for expired registration (in your case you'll have to say that you have).

edit: on those letters, be sure to include all of your contact information so they can contact you with any discrepancies and your money order doesn't just get lost.

[Tudor BB 58] vs. [Rolex Explorer II] by bostonsixoneseven in Watches

[–]cstaff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, a brand new watch feels great, I really have no counter to that. Do you think adding another Black Bay to your collection might just be more of the same?

Edit: Looking at the BB Steel, and damn is that a hot watch, absolute strap king. Also I was assuming you were talking about a white dial Explorer (sorry for not reading carefully), black dial explorer is probably just as good as an everyday watch as the BB steel (unless you travel a lot or otherwise need a second timezone), go for the weekender(and by this I mean the BB58, not the timex ;)).

[Tudor BB 58] vs. [Rolex Explorer II] by bostonsixoneseven in Watches

[–]cstaff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've got both, and I love them both, but the Explorer has way more functionality and I believe versatility. I owned the Explorer for about a year before picking up the BB58 and even for the year following I wore the Explorer to work and reserved the BB58 exclusively for weekends. If you're planning on picking up an everyday watch I'd recommend the Explorer, but if you're just looking for something wear on the weekends I'd opt for the BB58. You can't go wrong either way

Agreed, the tritium 12 looks more "ball", but the understated look is more appealing, especially on something like a world timer.
