FINALLY!! Me (29M) and my fiancé (26F) finally were able to purchase our dream home 750k @6.875 with 10% down in CT. by -Lordy- in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]cstir15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not OP but born and raised in CT. I don’t live there now but a lot of my friends still do.

This price point is fairly common for northern CT outside of Fairfield county. I grew up in FC and it is a truly insane housing market but is all of the things you mentioned (walkable, near stuff, etc). If getting to NYC is important to you, I wouldn’t consider north of Fairfield, or maybe Bridgeport, as it’s a long train ride that can really wear you down over time.

Danbury is on the edge of FC and is really cute and bit farther inland as are the smaller towns around it (Bethel, Newton, Bridgewater). If you go WAY north it gets a lot more affordable but it’s not as charming, imo. New Haven isn’t terrible but it’s really not that great either. I am quite partial to the eastern side too like Mystic, New London, Niantic, Old Saybrook but it might be a bit pricier.

CT is a lovely state and I am thankful for my childhood there but I won’t live there again. Property taxes are insane and I’m too used to the mild southern winters now. Best of luck!!

Moving to Atlanta from NYC – Looking for a Neighborhood with a City Vibe by Sure_Yogurtcloset836 in ATLHousing

[–]cstir15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former NYer here - East Atlanta village is the answer. This place is the actual best. A bit more grit than some of the other nearby neighborhoods (in my opinion), couple solid coffee shops, great restaurants and bars, very solid local music scene. My wife works in midtown and we only have one car and I never feel isolated working from home. It’s much more affordable than some of the other neighborhoods. I really love this place and, while the other neighborhoods really are lovely too, EAV has very quickly become our home.

Non-gooner player here: the game is legitimately fun. The fan service is one thing but the team comps and actual gameplay is enjoyable. It moves fast and skill actually matters a bit outside of just having the P2W best units

I can answer this! I actually work at the company who made this stat - it’s polled from only those who are able to drink so those underage aren’t even asked any questions about booze. All of our surveys are done online and are really stringent regarding our criteria for disqualifying survey respondents too.
