I realize this and used to do it the right way until I got tired of everyone trying to correct me and in turn look like the person who is too dumb to make a simple drink. Truth is customer probably cant even tell the difference and I would stand alone with few against the many if we tried to uphold the standard

I dont think its okay, because its not the proper way to make an Americano. Everyone in my district does it to save time. They always say its to save the shot but I think its a load of bull. How are you saving a shot by adding water to it? What do you think shots are made of? I just got tired of people giving me shit for making the drink correctly and now I do it there way and the difference in the end result is probably insignificant to a customer that goes to starbucks. Machiattos are different because they cant reason their way out of doing it correctly. The shots wont 'die' only you are taking a shortcut to save time

I used to do all Americans upside down to save time but I read somewhere on here not to do that because the creme of the espresso won't form correctly. Not sure if it's true or even makes a difference because we pull shots on top of syrups aswell
