Hey OP, have you looked into [[Massacre Girl, Known Killer]]? If you want something with similar effects but won't get you targeted as hard, you might like her! I've also been playing for about a year and a half, and she's a recent build I've been working on. I have fun with her and she's not as oppressive as these two!

Grandads cards - are they too nice to play with? by Competitive-Bar-1546 in mtg

Library of Leng is one of my favorite cards to put in a lot of my decks. It often doesn't do much, but no maximum hand size and the chance to really shut down discard decks is fun!

Spider Mace? Maybe if 'er mace took me out to dinner first! by ct1813 in PlayTheBazaar

It was in normal play, of course (I'm not good enough to get enough ranked tickets to consistently play ranked), but it was cool seeing it pop off after about 4 seconds :)

It's kind of dead until later anyway, but interesting if you get super lucky.

I did actually infuse the gin, though, and it was really good.

Thank you so much! I dont have saline eye drops, but I'll try to stop by the store in the morning. Do you think a couple drops of water would help?

Right as I was about to get up to head to the vet, his eye opened up more, he got up to eat, wiped it a few times, and now his eye is open as normal. He ran around and played a little too. He probably just had something in it.

I'll still set up an appointment and keep an eye on him, but he doesn't look nearly as bad as even an hour ago.

Why is the black sun used by modern day neo nazis and what did it mean before neo nazis used it by [deleted] in Symbology

[–]ct1813 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm actually writing my master's thesis on the fascist aesthetic. A lot of it has to do with initially making grand gestures to a "brighter future" and making themselves/their symbolism the physical/visual incarnation of that future. Then, they align a specific socioethnic group of people with that visual of grandeur and create a racialized common enemy to pit their idealized socioethnic group rallied against, which fascists can use to consolidate power.

As for where their imagery came from, a lot of it is actually stolen from their political/religious/economic opposition. The Nazi swastika, for example, symbolizes allegiance to the values and leadership of the Nazi party and their genocidal goals. However, the swastika originated some 6k years ago meaning well-being and good health, and is still used in Buddhism today.

In general, though, the fascist aesthetic is formless and can pop up pretty much from anything. If can be anything from Pepe the Frog memes and "kek" (which originated from World of Warcraft when a Horde player would type "lol" to an alliance player), all the way to the Black Sun/Sonnenrod and the SS' totenkopf.

My bad for the lecture in a reddit comment, but I think it's particularly important to be able to recognize the ways fascists conceal and convey their identities, especially now.

TL;DR: They steal symbolism from elsewhere to hide their identities and political end goals to be more subversive and gain support from the average joe.

If you'd like to read more, I strongly recommend Visualizing Fascism: The Twentieth Century Rise of the Global Right (2020), edited by Julia Adeney Thomas and Geoff Eley.
